Scope of delivery
The scope of delivery of the O11 Vision Compact is rather small, but contains everything you need to assemble a test system. All the necessary screws are included and practically packed in a plastic box, which makes organization easier. Three cable ties are also included, which are usually sufficient as the housing already offers numerous cable management functions.
The Vision Compact is supplied pre-assembled with the mesh lid. The scope of delivery also includes a glass element that is inserted into the lid.
Unfortunately, there are no printed assembly instructions, which would have been particularly helpful for switching between the Vision and Mesh configurations. In our test, we had to use the manufacturer’s online version to carry out this change correctly. An enclosed manual would have simplified the assembly process even further.
External impression
The O11 Vision Compact impresses with a very clean external appearance that allows plenty of insight into the inside of the housing. The black color runs consistently through the entire design and gives the case an elegant, uniform look. Even at first glance, the case looks compact and has a high-quality finish.
The front of the case is dominated by a large glass panel that provides an unobstructed view of the installed hardware. This is complemented on the right by a black panel with a brushed look. The start button is incorporated into this right-hand panel, which stands out clearly from the rest of the design with its LED surround. The front connections are integrated into the right foot of the case and include two USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type-C 3.1 port and an audio connection.
The right side panel is predominantly made of mesh, which gives the case excellent airflow performance. This design decision underlines the functional approach of the case.
The rear of the case features many perforated surfaces that provide additional airflow. On the right is the option for mounting fans, while the screw fittings for releasing the lid are positioned above the case. There is also a rubberized cable grommet to facilitate cable management. The power supply slot is slightly pulled outwards, which creates more space inside the case for cable routing. The screw fittings for the hard disk cages are located at the bottom left, although they cannot be pulled out to the rear.
There is a large, pull-out dust filter on the underside of the case, which makes cleaning much easier. The housing stands on four rubberized feet, which ensure a secure stand. The cabling of the front connections is neatly routed and underlines the well thought-out design of the enclosure.
Interior impression
The interior of the O11 Vision Compact impresses with a very well thought-out and functional design. It offers space for fans in various positions: on the side, in the base, in the rear and, when using the mesh lid, also on top. Many well-placed cable grommets make it easier to route cables into the rear compartment and ensure a tidy appearance.
A special feature of the interior is the integration of a possible AiO water cooling system. In the best case scenario, this is concealed at the side, with the hoses from the rear being routed through the large rubberized feed-through above. This well thought-out solution contributes to a clean look and efficient cooling. In addition, the case is also compatible with mainboards that offer rear connections, making it versatile and future-proof.
The rear of the case is also very functionally designed. The interior is concealed by a magnetically closing flap, which also provides space for up to two SSDs. Two perforated hard disk sleds underneath also allow the installation of additional drives.
Thanks to the offset mounting of the power supply unit, there is more space inside for cable routing, which makes cable management much easier. In addition, there are many useful cable fasteners that support a clean and structured installation of the hardware.
Processing
The workmanship of the O11 Vision Compact leaves a very positive impression overall. The accuracy of fit of the individual components is excellent, and the housing appears robust and durable. The clean integration of the glass panels and mesh elements in particular is evidence of the high quality of the manufacturing process.
However, the impression is that the choice of materials appears to be of a slightly lower quality compared to other products in the O11 series. This is particularly evident in some of the metal elements, which are functional but not quite on a par with other models. Nevertheless, this does not seriously detract from the overall quality, as the materials used are well processed and well thought out.
Another positive aspect is the matt coating, which is both aesthetically pleasing and largely prevents fingerprints. The solid feet with rubberized underside also contribute to the high-quality overall impression.
Mounting the test system
For the practical test, we placed our test system in the O11 Vision Compact. The installation went very smoothly overall, as there is plenty of space despite the compact design and no components had to be “fiddly” installed.
We were particularly impressed by the well thought-out design, which makes installation easier and optimally integrates cable management options. Due to the given installation direction of our AiO water cooling system, we were unfortunately unable to use the concealed installation method, but this is due to the specific requirements of our hardware. For other configurations, concealed mounting should be possible without any problems.
The test system:
Processor: | Ryzen 7 7800X3D* |
Mainboard: | MSI B650 Tomahawk* |
Memory: | Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB 6000 MHz* |
Graphics card: | AMD Radeon RX 6900XT |
Power supply: | Corsair HX850 |
Case: |
Lian Li O11 Vision* |
AiO cooler: | TRYX Panorama 240* |
The installation of the SSD in the O11 Vision Compact is particularly well thought out. The placement on the cover, which can be opened and closed, is extremely practical and makes installation much easier. The integrated rubber inserts make installing the SSD simple and easy.
Cabling the SSD is also child’s play thanks to the clever design of the housing. A small indentation at the height of the connections ensures that the cables can be neatly routed without getting in the way. In addition, the SSD can be easily replaced if necessary, which further underlines the functionality and user-friendliness of the enclosure.
Performance test
For the performance test, we left the O11 Vision Compact in the version with the glass lid in order to test the thermal performance under realistic conditions. Inside the case, there are three fans in the base that transport fresh air into the case. The 240 mm radiator uses this fresh air supply to efficiently transport the warm exhaust air to the outside. In addition, two 120 mm fans have been installed at the rear, which also transport warm air out of the case.
The fan speeds were deliberately chosen to be moderate for the test in order to keep the noise development at a level close to everyday use. The aim was to measure temperatures as they occur in typical usage scenarios. The performance of the system was tested both in idle mode (directly after system startup) and under load during a gaming session. We chose Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 as the test game, which places high demands on the hardware.
Test results
– In idle mode, the CPU reached an average temperature of 48°C, while the GPU was at 39°C.
– During gaming mode (multiplayer mode in Black Ops 6), the CPU temperature rose to 55°C and the GPU temperature to 80°C.
The results show that the ventilation concept of the O11 Vision Compact works excellently. Despite the closed glass lid, there was no heat build-up and the components remained within a non-critical temperature range. This confirms that the design of the case enables excellent cooling even without the additional ventilation of the mesh lid.
Conclusion
The Lian Li O11 Vision Compact shows that a compact case does not have to compromise on design, functionality and performance. With its successful combination of attractive appearance, well thought-out interior design and excellent cooling performance, the case is aimed at both ambitious PC enthusiasts and users with limited space.
The versatile mounting options for fans and water cooling systems, which make the case surprisingly flexible despite its smaller dimensions, are particularly noteworthy. The well thought-out cable management solutions and simple installation of hardware components also contribute to a pleasant set-up process.
The workmanship of the case is of a high quality overall, although not quite at the premium level of other models in the O11 series. Minor compromises in the choice of materials, for example in some metal elements (e.g. framing of the glass elements), are compensated for by the consistently clean production and stable construction.
In practice, the case impresses with effective cooling, even at moderate fan speeds and with the glass lid closed. The results of the performance test underline that the ventilation concept of the Vision Compact is well thought out and also works reliably in gaming and everyday use.
