vivo X300 Pro Test: Design and workmanship
At first glance, the Vivo X300 Pro impresses with its high-quality workmanship. The back impresses with its matte look, while the elegant 3D glass unibody housing provides sufficient protection. The smartphone is surrounded by an elegant aluminum frame, which not only provides a classy look.
It also offers a non-slip feel, which reduces the fear of accidental drops from the hand. The smooth surface is resistant to fingerprints, which is a real advantage in everyday use. With dimensions of 161.98 × 75.48 × 7.99 mm and a weight of around 226 grams, the smartphone is of course no dwarf.
Nevertheless, it is surprisingly comfortable to hold, which is certainly due to the slim casing and rounded corners. The speakers, USB-C port and SIM card slot are located on the underside. On the right-hand side of the casing, we find a volume rocker and the standby button. On the left is a practical button that you can assign as you wish.
The vivo X300 Pro naturally lends itself to being used as a camera button. All buttons score with an excellent pressure point. On the back, we find the heart of the X300 Pro – the circular camera unit, which vivo has developed in collaboration with Zeiss.
Thanks to IP68 and IP69 certification, the X300 Pro is optimally protected against dust, splash water and temporary submersion. The haptics are supported by a powerful linear vibration motor that provides precise feedback for notifications and keystrokes.
It is not only the high build quality that gives a feeling of longevity. Vivo also delivers promising software. The X300 Pro runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16. vivo promises long-term updates and security patches over several years, so that the device is not only well equipped for the moment, but also for the years to come.
vivo X300 Pro test: display quality
The display is a real highlight of the X300 Pro, which is not only due to the extremely thin edges, which measure just 1.1 mm. The 6.78-inch LTPO OLED panel also has a resolution of 2800 × 1260 pixels, which results in a high pixel density of around 453 PPI. LTPO technology enables the smartphone to dynamically regulate the refresh rate, which saves energy when there are no fast movements on the screen
This is useful when surfing the World Wide Web or reading, for example. At the same time, the adaptive refresh rate ensures smooth animations when gaming, watching videos or quickly scrolling through social media. A maximum of 120 Hz promises butter-smooth movements. With a peak brightness of over 4,500 nits for HDR content, the display is also very easy to read in direct sunlight.
Apart from that, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision ensure strong contrasts and excellent color reproduction. The 10-bit color processing enables smooth transitions and realistic color nuances. An ultrasound-based fingerprint sensor under the display complements the powerful features with a fast and reliable unlocking method.
vivo X300 Pro test: hardware and performance
Under the hood is the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, a 3 nm chip that, together with the 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM and fast UFS 4.1 memory with a whopping 512 GB, ensures outstanding system performance. The device is also extremely responsive in everyday use and under load: multitasking runs smoothly, apps start without delay and even demanding games are handled without any problems.
The subjective experience was then confirmed by really impressive results in several benchmark tests. Thanks to the efficient cooling, there are hardly any heat problems even during prolonged use. The X300 Pro supports modern connectivity: 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth and eSIM support ensure maximum flexibility, while the integration of all common positioning systems promises precise navigation.
The battery has a capacity of 5,440 mAh and can be charged at lightning speed with a powerful 90 W wired or 40 W wireless charging. This should easily be enough for a day and a half with average use. The X300 Pro leaves a really good impression in terms of performance, as it offers an excellent balance between performance, efficiency and endurance.
vivo X300 Pro test: Camera quality
The camera is the heart of the X300 Pro and also its biggest unique selling point. It is not without reason that the manufacturer has brought in a real expert in Zeiss. And the cooperation has more than paid off. The system combines a 50 MP main sensor, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 200 MP telephoto sensor with periscope optics. A 50 MP front camera is available for selfies.
As an option, a Zeiss teleconverter lens can be used in the “Best Experience Set” of the vivo X300 Pro, which further enhances the zoom experience. In practice, the system is impressive across the board: the telephoto sensor delivers impressively detailed images even from a great distance, while the main camera produces razor-sharp, high-contrast images. The ultra-wide-angle camera also delivers strong results and the front camera is ideal for high-resolution selfies.
The processing of the images is particularly noteworthy. The combination of V3+ post-processing and Vs1 pre-processing optimizes colors, dynamics and noise reduction, which is particularly evident in difficult lighting conditions. The zoom performance is also really impressive. Even when the zoom capability is fully utilized, you get strong details.
In my opinion, the vivo X300 Pro outperforms all other flagship smartphones currently available, such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (€ 1,569.00 *), iPhone 17 Pro (€ 1,279.00 *) or Google Pixel 10 Pro (€ 872.03 *). The vivo X300 Pro also impresses in terms of moving image recording. The flagship can record videos in 8K@30fps, 4K@30/60/120fps and 4K@120fps. Thanks to Dolby Vision HDR, high-contrast results can be seen.
However, some minor limitations remain. While the shutter release time for individual photos is incredibly fast, continuous shooting could definitely be faster. Post-processing also feels a little unnatural at times and intensive use of the camera can sometimes generate noticeable heat. However, this is all complaining at a high level and hardly detracts from the otherwise excellent impression when taking photos and filming in practice. If you are looking for a powerful smartphone camera, this is the one for you!
vivo X300 Pro test: Software, AI features and OriginOS 6
With the X300 Pro, Vivo is launching OriginOS 6 for the first time outside of China – a modern, clearly structured user interface that leaves FunTouch OS far behind. Smooth animations, new typography and a revised control center give the system a coherent, almost iOS-like user experience. As the interface is based on Android 16 and Vivo promises 5 years of system updates and 7 years of security updates, the device is also well positioned for the long term.

OriginOS comes with several practical functions: The Origin Island is reminiscent of Apple’s Dynamic Island and uses the camera area to display important background information. A private area offers additional security for sensitive content, while the connection center makes it easier to exchange data or mirror to TV devices. There are also small but clever extras such as motion cues, which are designed to reduce nausea when reading while moving, or a walkie-talkie mode for Bluetooth communication without a mobile network.
When it comes to AI, Vivo relies heavily on Google: Gemini is fully integrated, as is “Circle to Search”. Extensive AI tools are available for photos – from magic eraser and UHD optimization to colour correction. The results are usually solid, but are not always on a par with Pixel or Galaxy devices. Additional Vivo AI functions such as AI Captions or AI-supported text editing work reliably, but require a Vivo account and often an active internet connection.
vivo X300 Pro review: Camera feel with expansion kit
At least to the untrained eye, it would be impossible to tell that the vivo X300 Pro is ‘just’ a smartphone when looking at the photos. Instead, the results look as if they were taken with a genuine professional camera. So it’s no surprise that vivo also offers a practical camera grip to go with its new flagship model. The Photography Kit transforms the X300 Pro into a fully-fledged camera, both visually and functionally.
The handle scores points in everyday use with its great ergonomics and straightforward operation. It has physical controls such as a real shutter release, a zoom lever and an exposure control. This significantly improves control of the telephoto lens. I find the integrated tripod thread particularly practical. It allows you to conveniently place the vivo X300 Pro on a tripod for shake-free video recordings, group photos with a self-timer or shots with long exposure times.
Inside the handle is a separate 2,300 mAh battery. This is designed to provide even more runtime during intensive filming or extensive photo sessions. Another highlight is, of course, the teleconverter lens, which is also included in the Photographer Kit. With its help, focal lengths of up to 200 mm can be achieved. This complete package ensures that the X300 Pro feels like a small, handy camera for ambitious amateur photographers in everyday use.
Conclusion
The Vivo X300 Pro is a flagship that is clearly aimed at photography enthusiasts. The combination of a powerful camera, state-of-the-art processor, large OLED display and powerful battery makes it an outstanding smartphone for users who value high performance and high-quality images. The feel, finish and IP certification round off the positive overall impression, while the long-term software support provides additional security.
Small compromises remain, however: The camera’s post-processing is not always optimal, and the speaker quality does not quite match the premium level. In addition, Gemini’s AI features do not (yet) work at the level of other Android flagships. Nevertheless, the X300 Pro is the ideal choice for users who are looking for an excellent camera combined with strong performance and are willing to invest in it.
