ASUS ROG G700 review: Elegant design with lots of RGB
The first impression left by the ROG G700 is largely characterized by its modern and characterful case. ASUS has opted for a combination of solid aluminum and glass surfaces, which are not only visually impressive, but also convey a sense of value to the touch.
All in all, you get a complete gaming PC that can easily keep up with custom-built systems. The manufacturer’s logo on the front, combined with clear accents, underlines the brand identity and emphasizes the gaming character without being obtrusive. On the right-hand side of the ASUS ROG G700, a generous glass panel allows a view of the interior, which can be removed in no time at all thanks to a clever clip system and a single knurled screw.
This feature not only facilitates access to the hardware and components for upgrades or maintenance work, but also emphasizes the premium claim of the model.
Special attention is paid to the interior design: ASUS has placed great emphasis on arranging the components in a clear and aesthetically pleasing manner. Generous space between the motherboard slots ensures neat cable routing and sufficient air circulation. The entire interior is set in scene by the synchronizable RGB lighting with Aura Sync. The colors and light patterns are flexibly customizable and can even be matched to other ROG components in the system.
The cable management is excellent. With the exception of the cabling for the AiO water cooling system and the power cable for the graphics card, there are no visible wires on the inside. Even professionals can hardly do better with custom PCs.
Features and cooling
The ASUS ROG G700 is equipped with the latest high-end components, including powerful Intel Core Ultra processors up to Ultra 9 285K and graphics cards from the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 500 series. This guarantees strong gaming performance for years to come.
Depending on the model, the RAM configuration goes up to 128 GB DDR5, while standard variants already shine with 16 or 32 GB for ambitious multitasking and streaming. Particularly noteworthy is the effective cooling system, which leaves little to be desired even in the top class of gaming PCs.
Three large-format fans at the front and a further fan at the rear create powerful yet quiet air circulation. Thanks to the generously dimensioned 240 mm AIO, the heat development remains under control even during long and intensive gaming sessions, so that the system remains very quiet during normal use and a loud audible noise can only be heard under extreme full load.
Another advantage of the sophisticated architecture is the ability to control the airflow individually and adjust the fan curves according to personal requirements. Even demanding rendering work, streaming or data-intensive applications pose no problems for the ROG G700. Cables and connectors are routed in such a way that they neither disrupt the airflow concept nor impair the working and gaming experience.
In practical tests with the latest AAA games, the G700 impresses with its stable performance and efficient cooling, meaning that there is no drop in performance. The ASUS ROG G700 also has removable dust filters on the top and bottom to make cleaning the system easier.
Features and connections
In terms of connectivity, the G700 is extremely flexible. The I/O panel features two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A ports and one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type C port, which enable peripheral devices such as a mouse, keyboard or headset to be connected quickly. This setup is complemented by classic 3.5 mm jack sockets for headphones and microphone, which is a great added value for streamers and gamers in particular.
The back of the device has plenty of other connections, including a total of nine USB ports (including an ultra-fast 20 Gbps USB-C for external SSDs or audio interfaces), up to 2.5 GB Ethernet and three audio connections. Optional WiFi 6 antennas (also included) can also be connected if wireless connectivity is required.
It is a bit of a shame that the gaming PC relies on the outdated Wi-Fi 6 standard. Considering the price, more would have been possible here. However, it offers excellent connection quality and speeds, both via Wi-Fi and LAN connection. Bluetooth 5.4 also allows additional devices to be connected wirelessly.
Our test model with the type designation G700TF-09285K132W comes with the top equipment around Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 PRIME, a 2 TB SSD and 32 GB DDR5 RAM.
ASUS provides the gaming PC, which weighs around 18 kg, with an 850-watt power supply unit, which appears to be sufficiently dimensioned. It offers the 80+ Gold standard and allows a peak of 900 watts. The expansion options are excellent: in addition to the occupied PCIe 5.0 slot, three further PCIe 4.0 slots are available. The RAM can be expanded to up to 128 GB via four DDR5-U DIMMs.
Software and RGB lighting
Software control is convenient and intuitive using ASUS Armoury Crate, a comprehensive suite for controlling system parameters and RGB lighting. The application offers a clear dashboard on which all performance profiles, fan curves and updates can be managed centrally.
A particularly positive feature is how clearly the lighting options are integrated: Not only can the color, brightness and effects of the Aura Sync lighting be specified here, but synchronization with other compatible devices in the network can also be implemented, such as the motherboard, graphics card or RAM modules.
The direct intervention options for system performance offer advantages for overclockers and enthusiasts, while the automated updates ensure that operation is always up-to-date and error-free. The atmospheric RGB lighting should also be emphasized.
Whether pulsating waves, subtle color patterns or aggressive gaming looks – in combination with the glass housing, a unique atmosphere is created that provides additional visual accents, especially in the evening or when streaming. This shows how seriously ASUS takes the combination of technology and aesthetics.
Practical and benchmark test
In the practical test, the delivers outstanding results. The manufacturer has done a great job with the assembly. I have already mentioned that the cable management is impressive. But the cooling performance is also excellent. Even without adjusting the fan curves, the heat development was never at a critical level.

The noise development also left a good impression in the gaming tests. Although the fans turn up audibly under load, it never gets unpleasantly loud. This could only be realized in benchmark stress tests, in which I pushed the gaming PC to its absolute limit. Here, the G700 really got extremely loud, but the fan noises are by no means unpleasantly shrill, especially as the volume decreased again quite quickly.
As far as performance is concerned, the gaming PC works at the level that can be expected from the installed components. The built-in SSD achieves around 5,000 MB/s read and write speeds and can maintain this performance over the long term. It also scores with low latencies and very good 4K values.
The system performance is also excellent. Loading times are extremely short, the CPU performance is impressive and, in general, all measured values are at an excellent level and even clearly outperform comparably equipped gaming notebooks.

The same can be said about the gaming performance, where the system benefits from the fast RTX 5080 and powerful CPU. Even demanding games such as F1 24 or Battlefield 6 are easily handled by the system on the highest graphics settings, with ray tracing and without DLSS at 140-160 FPS in 1440p resolution, offering more than enough reserves for smooth 4K gaming.

In a direct comparison with the ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 OC Edition (our test), the RTX 5080 PRIME is slightly inferior, but the gaming performance still leaves nothing to be desired and is perfectly equipped for the future.
