Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro review – new edition in wireless

The fact that Razer brings new editions of its peripherals to the market is mainly due to their popularity. The DeathAdder V2 was announced in early 2020 and now the DeathAdder V2 Pro is coming to the market. Basically the same model, but in a wireless version. We have tested the Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro for you.

Scope of delivery

The Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro comes in an interesting box. Just unfold the outer box and the right box is hidden inside – with the mouse and accessories. We don’t find the USB dongle in the box, but it is already stored inside the mouse. Also included is a long sleeved USB cable and a USB adapter. For transport we also include a small bag, this is even made of cotton and not just plastic.

Material and workmanship

Due to the price, a high quality in terms of material and workmanship can already be expected. Razer manages to implement this in all points. Only the mouse clicks alone are not good in terms of haptics. The mouse buttons hear and feel cheap. Apart from that, plastic is used completely, but it feels high-quality. Moreover, it is more durable than the soft-touch surface that has been used so far. The sides are rubberized for better grip. The PTFE pads provide the gliding ability.

Design and ergonomics

Left-handed people will probably have to be patient a little longer, because the Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro is for right-handed people only. There are no additional keys on the right side, only the rubberized surface for a good grip. The other side, on the other hand, offers two keys that can be freely programmed via Razer Synapse 3. The mouse pad is easy to rotate and has a clear but fine and smooth grid. Just behind the mouse wheel there are two more function keys.

In terms of ergonomics, Razer doesn’t change a thing with DeathAdder V2 Pro. The DeathAdder has a distinctive design and great ergonomics, and this is continued in the same way in the wireless new edition. Especially the weight plays an important role. A mouse must not be too heavy. The DeathAdder V2 Pro does not face this problem at all. Despite HyperSpeed Wireless and a strong battery, the mouse weighs only 88 grams, so almost nothing. Perfect for long gaming sessions.

Sensor of the Razer Deathadder V2 Pro

As with all new Razer products, the in-house Focus+ sensor is installed. This offers up to 20,000 DPI, which is not used by gamers. Even with a wireless connection, an accuracy of 99.6 percent should be achieved. And we can confirm the DeathAdder V2 Pro’s good operational readiness. It can convince in any situation.

Battery life

Razer specifies a battery life of 120 hours, but this is only realistic with the lights turned off. Broken down, that’s about 50 hours in terms of battery life. We can recognize the battery status by the LED lighting, at least when it is nearing its end. In the software we get a precise percentage displayed. If you have a docking station, it will also change its color and the mouse can also be charged via the dock. Otherwise you can charge the mouse with the included USB cable.

Software

We have written a lot about Razer Synapse 3 lately. It is also used in the DeathAdder V2 Pro and here too there are practically no limits to the customization of the mouse buttons. The key assignment can be freely adjusted, even the main keys can be assigned differently. In addition to setting the sensor, you can also create your own macros.

Razer Synapse is also required for lighting. The DeathAdder V2 Pro only has the logo illuminated, but if you get the charging station, you can also adjust the illumination. Once you have everything set up, you can save up to five profiles on the mouse.

Conclusion

Razer has successfully re-released the DeathAdder. With the DeathAdder V2 Pro, Razer brings the great design and ergonomics together in a lightweight case and still incorporates the latest technology. The HyperSpeed wireless technology fits perfectly together with the weight so that the mouse feels like a wired mouse.

The quality is also completely right again at Razer. The mouse buttons have deductions for the mouse, they really don’t feel or sound high quality. And since the mouse buttons are one of the most important parts of a mouse, this reduces the overall impression.

88/100

Great gaming mouse with the usual Razer quality, but the mouse buttons reduce the impression. Otherwise the new edition of the "Legend" can convince.
