Corsair MAKR Pro 75 Review: The noble custom keyboard gets even better

Corsair hit the bull’s eye with the MAKR 75 DIY custom keyboard presented at Computex 2025. The extensively customizable DIY keyboard kit impressed with its numerous individualization options, elegant design and modern features. But what do you do if a mechanical keyboard is not enough? That’s right: add magnetic Hall-effect switches and an even higher-quality base. The whole thing goes by the name of Corsair MAKR Pro 75 and we took a closer look at it in our test.

Corsair MAKR Pro 75 Review: Robust workmanship, simple design

  • Elegant all-aluminum case
  • Attractive design
  • FR4 switch plate; PBT keycaps; rotary control

Surprise: The design of the new Corsair MAKR 75 Pro does not differ from the non-Pro version from last year. In terms of value, an all-aluminum case is undoubtedly the measure of all things, and fortunately this is once again used here. The frame will probably be available in two colors (carbon and silver) – the anodized housing ensures a pleasant grip with a hefty weight of over 1,100 grams when fully assembled. The Corsair MAKR Pro 75 makes it unmistakably clear: you can expect quality here.

Once again, the custom keyboard is offered either as a barebone kit, which you can put together as you wish, or as a pre-assembled complete package. The latter is our test model, which comes with high-quality three-color PBT double-shot keycaps. The white main and black additional keys, including the yellow Enter and ESC keys, create a harmonious color accent. However, if you prefer, you can simply use your own keycaps or opt for one of the numerous designs offered by the manufacturer.

The keycaps and switches on the Corsair MAKR Pro 75 are of course hot-swappable and can be easily replaced. But the customization goes much deeper. The handy metal rotary knob at the top right edge of the case can be replaced by an LCD module, for example, on which graphics or system statistics can be displayed. There is also an optional wireless module that adds a 2.4 GHz radio connection to the MAKR 75 Pro, which can otherwise only be used with a cable.

Commendable: The high-quality FR4 switch plate, which noticeably improves the typing feel, is already included with the new Pro model. This had to be added to the MAKR 75 for an additional 20 euros.

Appealing RGB lighting that can be customized down to the smallest detail is of course also included. There is also a button on the top to switch between Mac and Windows mode. I also think the feet on the underside are cleverly designed, as they are magnetic and allow the keyboard to be set up at a higher angle.

Features of the Corsair MAKR Pro 75

  • harmonious 75 percent layout
  • 8,000 Hz
  • excellent reverb effect switches

The features of the new Corsair MAKR 75 Pro leave nothing to be desired. The new model is also based on a 75 percent layout, which is positioned between the tenkeyless and 60 percent design in terms of size and therefore does not have a numeric keypad. With a sampling rate of up to 8,000 Hz, the keyboard is also extremely fast and meets professional requirements.

The use of magnetic Hall Effect technology is probably the most important new feature of the Pro model. The main difference between a conventional mechanical keyboard and a Hall Effect keyboard is the way in which a keystroke is registered – in other words, the way in which the signal is transmitted. Hall-effect keyboards (often referred to as magnetic keyboards) use magnets and sensors instead of the mechanical contacts of a mechanical keyboard. There is a magnet in the base of each switch and a Hall sensor on the circuit board (PCB).

Thanks to Hall Effect technology, you can, for example, set the trigger point for gaming to be extremely short (e.g. 0.1 mm) or use the Rapid Trigger function, where the key is immediately ready for use again as soon as you lift it even a millimeter – a huge advantage in fast-paced shooters.

The scope of delivery of the Corsair MAKR Pro 75 is lavish

Of course, the MAKR Pro 75 also comes with the corresponding functions: not only can the actuation point and reset value be set individually, but a “Fast Trigger” and “Flash Tap” are also included. The latter in particular is a real game changer in competitive games.

The Corsair MAKR Pro 75 is also hot-swappable, which means that keycaps and switches can be replaced quickly and easily. For the switches, the keyboard uses the excellent and pre-lubricated MGX Hyperdrive switches, which we already know from the K70 Pro TKL (our test), for example. They trigger linearly with an actuation force of between 30 g and 55 g and can be adjusted between 0.1 mm and 4.0 mm in terms of the actuation point. Another advantage of the Hall Effect switches is their durability, as the switches are designed for 150 million keystrokes.

I really like the built-in keycaps. Not only do the high-quality PBT double-shot keycaps have a pleasantly non-slip profile, they are also very easy to read and skillfully display the RGB lighting.

Corsair has garnished the whole thing with strong damping: a total of eight layers should ensure a harmonious sound and also prevent the keys from wobbling. However, I have to say: the Corsair MAKR Pro 75 doesn’t sound really “thocky”. The sound is pleasant, but if you like it buttery soft, you’ll find better keyboards on the market. However, the damping of the larger keys in particular deserves great praise, which ensures a very stable connection.

As already mentioned, the keyboard can only be used wired ex works. However, wireless connectivity can be added if you install the corresponding module. The Corsair MAKR Pro 75 can then be connected via 2.4 GHz radio (Slipstream Wireless) or Bluetooth.

Replacing the modules and adapting the keyboard is child’s play, as the MAKR has a total of eight screws on the underside, which you can use to access the inside with the enclosed Allen key.

Software connection: iCUE or web app

  • Customization via web app possible
  • Extensive settings
  • Successful explanations for laypersons

The Corsair MAKR Pro 75 can be customized not only via the iCUE app, but also conveniently via the Corsair Web Hub in the browser. This deserves a lot of praise if you want to keep your system as lean as possible. In terms of options, there are no differences between the applications; the setting options are almost endless.

In the settings, for example, the USB sampling rate can be adjusted between 125 Hz or a whopping 8,000 Hz. You can also carry out firmware updates or adjust the brightness of the RGB lighting here.

There are also six additional tabs for customization options with the option of storing them directly in the keyboard’s onboard memory. In addition to adjusting the lighting effects (individually for each key), all keys can be individually assigned or provided with macros.

The function of the rotary control can also be adjusted, whereby an individual color of the RGB illuminated ring can be selected for each function. This means you can immediately see which setting is currently active. The options range from a simple volume control including mute with a click, media control and brightness adjustment to switching between applications, zoom and vertical or horizontal scrolling, which makes the Corsair MAKR 75 Pro extremely exciting for creative professionals.

The trigger points can be adjusted in detail under the “Button actuations” tab, and can be customized individually for each button with an optional secondary actuation point and a dedicated reset point.

With regard to the “Flash Tap” function, you can also specify whether the two buttons (e.g. A and D for strafing) should prioritize the last or first press or react neutrally. Practical: If Flash Tap is activated, a color-coded RGB illumination of the two buttons indicates this.

On the software side, the Corsair MAKR Pro 75 leaves nothing to be desired. The interface is also pleasantly tidy, while even laymen can immediately understand what all the options are about thanks to practical information boxes and descriptions.

Corsair MAKR Pro 75 in practical test

  • excellent typing characteristics
  • outstanding insulation
  • modular design

In the practical test, the Corsair MAKR Pro 75 delivers outstanding performance. I find the combination of fairly smooth-running switches and pleasantly grippy keycaps to be very pleasant, allowing easy triggering but still giving a very good feeling of precision and grip.

Both when playing and typing, the keyboard impresses with its light yet clearly defined feedback, which does not result in incorrect inputs. In combination with the damping layers and seals, the MAKR Pro 75 works extremely precisely and reliably, while none of the keys are wobbly. It doesn’t get any better than this.

Above all, the extensive customization options and the option to make many settings very conveniently using the FN key combination are extremely appealing. It’s just a shame that the manufacturer doesn’t print these commands on the keyboard, but only on the lid of the packaging.

The Corsair MAKR Pro 75 has no objective points of criticism. Subjectively, however, I would have liked the keyboard to sound more appealing. Although excellently stabilized and dampened, the keyboard is comparatively loud and not as creamy and pleasant as some of its competitors. But that’s a matter of taste.

Corsair MAKR 75 Pro

Otherwise, if I understand correctly, there doesn’t seem to be any way of ordering the individual modules and extras such as keycaps separately at the moment. Anyone configuring the MAKR 75 Pro with the manufacturer should therefore order all the options that might be of interest at some point.

In terms of feel, workmanship and precision, the Corsair MAKR Pro 75 is undoubtedly one of the best keyboards currently available on the market.

Corsair MAKR Pro 75 Review: Conclusion

With the Corsair MAKR Pro 75, the manufacturer delivers an outstanding custom keyboard that will delight even the most demanding enthusiasts. The customization options go far beyond those of many competitors such as the Glorious GMMK 3 Pro, which Corsair has also garnished with an outstanding all-aluminum finish and an appealing design.

The reverb effect switch and all its advantages, 8,000 Hz sampling rate and practical rotary control leave nothing to be desired and, for a very fair price, you can add an LC display and/or a wireless module, which are also quick and easy to install. However, you should be clear about what you need before you buy. There is currently no option to order modules and accessories separately.

The MAKR Pro 75 has almost no points of criticism. Only the sound of the keystrokes is probably not to everyone’s liking. There are keyboards on the market that sound cleaner and more pleasant. If that doesn’t bother you, you’ll get a really classy, ultra-modern and excellently equipped custom keyboard that leaves almost nothing to be desired.
