Corsair Sabre v2 PRO Wireless MG vs Corsair Sabre v2 PRO: The differences
This much in advance: The Corsair Sabre v2 PRO Wireless MG differs only in a few details from the normal Sabre v2 PRO from last year. So if you want to find out more details about the mouse, be sure to read the review of the closed version.
But how does the new Corsair Sabre v2 PRO Wireless MG differ from the previous Corsair Sabre v2 PRO?
Weight & material – magnesium vs. plastic
Corsair Sabre v2 PRO Wireless MG:
- Consists of a magnesium alloy case and weighs about 56g – a very light weight, but remains noticeably more stable than typical plastic cases.
- Magnesium provides a harder, more torsion-resistant structure that reduces micro-flexes and gives a “premium” feel without sacrificing too much weight. This is particularly important for competitive gaming, where precision and durability count.
Corsair Sabre v2 Pro Wireless (Standard):
- The original model relied on a classic plastic housing and was significantly lighter (only about 36 g) making it one of the lightest gaming mice on the market.
- The more minimalist housing resulted in a more agile mouse overall, but loses out to the magnesium model in terms of robustness and material value.
Difference:
The MG variant opts for a more robust material and slightly more weight in favor of higher structural integrity, while the standard model focuses primarily on maximum lightness to facilitate every little movement.
Sensors, performance & polling rate
Both models share the same core sensor hardware and technology:
- Both use the CORSAIR MARKSMAN S sensor with up to 33,000 DPI, high tracking speed and precise response.
- The 8,000 Hz polling rate (hyper-polling) is possible with both versions and ensures extremely fast input reactions, both in wired and wireless operation.
- DPI button only for Corsair Sabre v2 Pro Wireless MG
Battery life & connectivity
Corsair Sabre v2 PRO Wireless MG:
- Supports tri-mode connectivity (2.4 GHz Slipstream Wireless, Bluetooth and USB-C cable) and offers up to approximately 120 hours of battery life in 2.4 GHz mode at 1 kHz polling.
- Optional grip tapes and interchangeable mouse skates are included.
Corsair Sabre v2 Pro Wireless (standard):
- USB-C and 2.4 GHz wireless. No Bluetooth.
- Battery life is significantly lower: around 70 hours in 1 kHz mode, drops to around 16 hours when the 8 kHz rate is activated, as the entire structure was uncompromisingly designed for the lowest possible weight.
Difference:
- MG version has a significantly longer battery life, which makes it more advantageous for longer sessions or tournaments.
- The standard version can be used for longer in lightweight setups, but offers less runtime overall.

The Corsair Sabre v2 PRO Wireless MG is the tougher, more durable and better equipped version, with a focused upgrade in material quality and battery life. The standard Sabre v2 Pro Wireless, on the other hand, is extremely lightweight and designed to support every millisecond of movement, prioritizing weight over runtime.
Corsair Sabre v2 PRO Wireless MG review: Handy size, open design
The Corsair Sabre v2 Pro Wireless MG immediately catches the eye with its high-quality magnesium housing. This is an unusual material for gaming mice, which enables both robustness and an extremely low weight of just 56 g. Razer took a similar approach back in 2023 with the Viper Mini Signature Edition, which is slightly lighter than the Corsair model, but was more than twice as expensive at launch.
The housing of the Sabre v2 Pro Wireless MG immediately conveys a feeling of stability without appearing bulky. Magnesium not only ensures durability, but also significantly reduces fatigue during long gaming sessions, as the mouse glides over the mouse pad much more easily than comparable plastic models.
Does the Corsair Sabre v2 Pro Wireless MG offer RGB lighting? No, the gaming mouse comes without RGB lighting. However, an LED inside the mouse shows in color which of the up to five DPI levels is currently selected.
The shape of the mouse is symmetrical, slightly contoured and ergonomically suitable for claw and fingertip grip. The button layout is classic: two main buttons, two side buttons per side (functional use) and the rubberized scroll wheel, which allows precise scrolling with medium resistance. A well thought-out detail is the physical DPI switch on the underside, which prevents accidental switching during the game, but at the same time allows the sensitivity to be adjusted quickly.
The workmanship is flawless: no gaps, no creaking, the buttons appear robust and have a clearly defined pressure point. The side gripping surfaces, which ensure a stable hand position without being too bulky, are a particularly positive feature. Corsair has opted for a matt surface that minimizes fingerprints and still offers sufficient grip, even during fast movements. If you like, you can also improve the grip with grip tapes, which are included with the rodent.
Features and battery life of the Sabre v2 PRO MG
The Sabre v2 Pro Wireless MG impresses with its extensive features and excellent performance in the core area: the CORSAIR MARKSMAN S sensor. This offers up to 33,000 DPI, supports 8,000 Hz hyper-polling and enables movements with virtually no delay. The high polling rate ensures that even the smallest movement is transmitted precisely and immediately to the screen. This is a decisive advantage, especially in fast-paced shooters such as CS2 or Apex Legends.
Positive: Corsair also realizes the high polling rate natively in wireless operation. Thanks to the included hyper-polling USB dongle, which is connected to the PC or notebook via the included USB cable and can also be attached to the mouse pad thanks to the clip.
Corsair integrates tri-mode connectivity, consisting of 2.4 GHz SLIPSTREAM wireless, Bluetooth and classic USB-C connection. SLIPSTREAM technology reduces latency to a minimum and is therefore also ideal for gaming. Bluetooth is suitable for mobile or desktop use without a dongle, while USB-C simultaneously charges the mouse and serves as a wired option.
The battery life is impressive: in 2.4 GHz mode with 1 kHz polling activated, the mouse can play continuously for up to 120 hours. That’s another 50 hours more than the normal version. At 8,000 Hertz, however, the runtime is significantly reduced, but then there are still around 30-40 hours.
This means it is also predestined for intensive LAN events or longer gaming sessions. Optional fast charging via USB-C ensures that the mouse is ready for several hours of operation after just a few minutes of connection.

Other features include interchangeable mouse skates that optimize gliding on different surfaces, as well as grip tapes that can be individually adapted to your own grip. These features increase precision and comfort and allow the mouse to be optimally adapted to your own setup.
App connection also via web hub
What we like: The mouse is configured via the Corsair Web Hub, a browser-based software that enables all essential settings without having to install large desktop packages. The customizations include, among other things:
- DPI levels and sensitivity
- Polling rate (up to 8,000 Hz)
- Button assignment for macros or gaming profiles
- Lift-off distance (height above which movements are no longer registered)
- RGB lighting and effects
The web software is easily accessible and clearly laid out, which means that even beginners can set up the mouse optimally without any training. Professionals may miss somewhat more in-depth options such as complex macro scripts that classic iCUE software offers, but for most gamers, the Web Hub covers the most important functions completely.
All settings are transferred directly to the mouse, which means that profiles remain available even without running software. This is particularly practical for use at tournaments or on PCs on which no additional software may be installed. The browser-based solution thus offers a modern, platform-independent alternative to classic drivers.
Corsair Sabre v2 PRO Wireless MG in a practical test
The Corsair Sabre v2 Pro Wireless MG (like the original) shows its strengths particularly clearly in everyday gaming. The low weight and high-precision sensor technology enable lightning-fast flicks and precise target movements, even at low DPI settings. The mouse conveys a very direct feeling of precision, which is particularly important in FPS and MOBA titles.
The high polling rate in combination with the slipstream-capable 2.4 GHz mode ensures that no inputs are delayed – even quick changes of direction or complex combos are recognized immediately. The mouse remains comfortable even during longer sessions, and the ergonomic shape is particularly suitable for claw and fingertip grip users, although larger palms may feel a little less contact surface.
The battery life is confirmed in practice: even after several days of intensive gaming, no recharging is required. The skates and grip tapes contribute noticeably to a controlled, smooth glide, which further increases precision. DPI switching via the underside works reliably and prevents accidental changes during play.
In addition to classic gaming, the mouse also impresses in everyday use. Office tasks, browser control and multimedia use are just as comfortable, as the mouse is light, precise and ergonomic.
Corsair Sabre v2 Pro Wireless MG Review: Conclusion
The new Corsair Sabre v2 Pro Wireless MG is an exciting addition to the manufacturer’s line-up and, just like the original Sabre v2 Pro, marks an outstanding wireless gaming mouse for players with smaller hands.
Although the weight is higher at 56 grams, the new MG model has a few clear advantages over the original: The battery life turns out to be significantly longer, there is Bluetooth connectivity and the DPI button, which the Sabre v2 Pro still lacked, is now present. This means that Corsair has removed almost all of the points of criticism and delivers one of the best gaming mice currently on the market, which is definitely worth the money.
