The market for gaming chairs is highly competitive, and manufacturers are constantly trying to score points with new features and attractive prices. In spring 2025, Genesis launched the Nitro 800, which offers a number of features for a price of around 210 euros that are usually found in higher price ranges. These include a multiblock mechanism and a magnetic headrest. I have tested the chair extensively and will find out in this test report whether the overall package is convincing.

Scope of delivery
The Genesis Nitro 800 is supplied in a compact, heavy cardboard box in which all the individual parts are neatly packed. In addition to the seat and backrest, the scope of delivery also includes the gas spring, the metal base, the 60-millimeter castors and the assembly material including the appropriate Allen key, as shown in the following gallery:
Unfortunately, a small part of the base was already sticking out of the unopened box. On the other hand, the two enclosed cushions are particularly pleasing: An ergonomic lumbar cushion for the lumbar area and a magnetic head cushion made of memory foam.
Assembly
Assembly was straightforward during the test. All holes were drilled cleanly and the threads could be screwed in without any effort. It took two of us around 30 minutes to assemble. The instructions show the individual steps clearly and visually, so that even people with no previous knowledge can easily manage. The only thing to bear in mind is the relatively high weight of the main elements when assembling the seat and backrest.

Fabric cover and upholstery
Visually, the Genesis Nitro 800 has a chic, modern gaming design without being too obtrusive. The upholstery is pleasantly thick, which is particularly noticeable on the backrest. It looks solid in the best sense of the word and offers excellent support. The cover material is a soft fabric that feels very pleasant against the skin and showed no tendency to fluff during the test period.
The basic frame also makes a robust impression. The combination of the solid base and the sturdy construction ensures a high level of stability in everyday use. The 60 millimeter castors have a CareGlide coating. They roll extremely softly, quietly and smoothly across the floor without leaving marks on sensitive surfaces.
Belt bushings
The plastic ring molds, which are integrated into the upper part of the backrest as belt bushings, have a small dampening effect. Compared to the rest of the chair, these elements appear to be of a much lower quality. They were noticeably loose in the test and were easy to move due to their instability. In addition, the open seam where the plastic parts are joined together is not cleanly connected. It can be pressed together a little, which tarnishes the otherwise high-quality overall impression somewhat.

Multiblock mechanism and adjustability
The seating comfort of the Genesis Nitro 800 is outstanding. I was able to work and play comfortably for several hours. A highlight in this price range is the built-in Frog or multiblock mechanism. It not only allows you to adjust the angle of the backrest and seat independently, but also to lock the tilt angle securely at almost any angle. At the same time, the adjustment feels extremely smooth and easy. The chair is recommended for people between 160 and 195 centimetres tall and can easily support a load of up to 150 kilograms thanks to the class 4 gas spring.
Cushions and armrests
The ergonomic lumbar cushion hugs the back perfectly and provides effective support for the lumbar region. An innovative detail is the memory foam head cushion, which adheres magnetically to the backrest. This eliminates the often annoying tensioning straps of other gaming chairs. However, it turned out that the headrest cushion can be a little annoying depending on the chosen angle of the backrest, as there is only one attachment position due to the magnetic mechanism. You have to experiment a little with the angle to find the ideal setting for yourself.
The built-in 4D armrests offer plenty of scope for adjustment, as they can be adjusted in height, width, depth and angle. In practice, I noticed that the armrest adjustment mechanism is relatively stiff. Although this makes adjustment slightly more difficult, it ensures that the armrests do not move unintentionally.
Conclusion of the Genesis Nitro 800 test
The Genesis Nitro 800 proves to be an extremely comfortable and functional gaming chair in the test, which currently offers a remarkable price-performance ratio for around 210 euros. With its multiblock mechanism and magnetic memory foam head cushion, it offers features that are otherwise often reserved for models above the 300 euro mark. The soft, lint-free fabric cover and thick upholstery ensure a high level of seating comfort. However, there is still room for improvement with the cheap-looking plastic grommets in the backrest.
A look at the competition illustrates the strong positioning of the chair. The Corsair T3 Rush is currently priced at around 250 to 270 euros and also offers 4D armrests, but is quite narrow and only has a standard rocking mechanism. The cheaper Corsair TC100 Relaxed, like the Genesis Nitro 800, costs around 210 euros, but has to make do with simple 2D armrests and, like its more expensive brother, a simple rocking mechanism. In a direct comparison, the Genesis Nitro 800 therefore offers the most convincing overall package of features in this price range and gets a clear recommendation from me for price-conscious potential buyers.
