How good are the Insta360 Link 2 Pro and Insta360 Link 2C Pro in the test? The new 4K webcams come with a powerful 1/1.3-inch sensor, AI functions, dual native ISO and four recording modes for crystal-clear sound. Are these the best webcams in 2026? Our test reveals more.
Insta 360 Link 2 Pro / Link 2C Pro Review: New power for 4K webcams
No question: With the Link 2 (our test), Insta360 already has one of the best webcams currently available in its own portfolio. However, for all those who want that little bit more, there are now the new Pro models in the manufacturer’s line-up.
Namely the Insta360 Link 2 Pro and Insta360 Link 2C Pro. The names are based on the original: The Link 2 Pro relies on the familiar, integrated 2-axis gimbal including AI tracking, while the Link 2C Pro dispenses with the gimbal in favor of a lower price and more compact dimensions – but is otherwise on a par in terms of features and image quality.
One of the most important new features of both 4K webcams is the larger sensor: they use a 1/1.3″ sensor, which is significantly larger and correspondingly brighter than the 1/2″ sensor of the original Link 2. In addition, the field of view (FOV) has been extended to 84° (compared to 79.5°), which allows a slightly wider angle of view. Of course, both new webcams also offer HDR image display. Dual Native ISO is another exciting new feature.
What is Dual Native ISO? With Dual Native ISO and HDR, the Link 2 Pro series produces brighter, cleaner and more detailed images in all lighting conditions. The image quality therefore increases noticeably. Especially in low-light scenes and with changing lighting.
But that’s not all. The number of built-in microphones has also been doubled, while these should now deliver even better sound thanks to beamforming technology. There are also more advanced AI features, a green screen mode and presets for different scenes. And if you like, you can even control the webcams conveniently via an Elgato Stream Deck. Sounds pretty impressive, doesn’t it?
What does the Elgato Stream Deck integration look like? Link 2 Pro and Link 2C Pro now work seamlessly with the Elgato Stream Deck, offering creators and livestreamers a much more efficient workflow. For example, you can adjust exposure and brightness, switch AI modes, select custom presets, control multiple webcams simultaneously and much more.
Identical, high-quality design of the Insta 360 Link 2 Pro / Link 2C Pro
The design of the Insta 360 Link 2 Pro / Link 2C Pro has not changed compared to the normal model. This is pleasing, as the webcams were already able to score points with their elegant look and high-quality workmanship. Both webcams feature an elongated housing with a magnetic mount that allows the cameras to be attached to the monitor or display of a notebook.
Without the mount, both models measure around 60 x 25 mm (width x depth), although the Link 2 Pro is of course significantly higher due to its integrated gimbal (60 mm compared to 30 mm for the Link 2C Pro).
Both models share some design elements such as the lens on the left side or the redesigned microphones on the top, but there are also some differences:
- Only the Insta360 Link 2 Pro has a touch-sensitive button on the gimbal for operation
- Only the Link 2C Pro has a privacy shutter on the left that covers the lens
The larger model implements the privacy shutter by simply rotating the 2-axis gimbal downwards when not in use. So it works similarly well. The webcams are connected via USB-C, whereby the manufacturer includes a USB-A adapter in the scope of delivery.

The magnetic mount also has a screw thread to allow the webcams to be positioned even more flexibly on a tripod or similar. There is also an LED status ring on the front, which provides information about active tracking, ongoing recording and much more.
Commissioning, practice and software
The Insta 360 Link 2 Pro / Link 2C Pro offer simple plug-and-play connectivity. As with their quasi-predecessor, both webcams are ready to use as soon as they are connected. They can be attached using the included magnetic holder, which has an adjustable clamp to position the cameras on the monitor or notebook display.
The basic requirement for use is either Windows 10 or newer or macOS 13.0 or newer. One advantage of the Link 2 Pro is the gesture control, which the Link 2C Pro does not offer: A hand gesture can be used to activate or deactivate AI tracking, switch to the whiteboard or use the image zoom function.
In practice, the gesture control worked quite precisely and quickly. At least once you have understood that inputs are only recognized with the right hand. Why doesn’t it work with the left hand?
While the Link 2 Pro uses particularly smooth, gimbal-based tracking, the Link 2C Pro relies on intelligent automatic framing, which keeps individuals or small groups centered in the frame with adaptive zoom. Both functions do an impeccable job in practice and are completely convincing.

An exciting new feature of both Pro models is the Stream Deck integration. If you own a corresponding solution from Elgato, you can easily integrate the webcams via a plugin and make various settings. With a single tap, you can adjust exposure, white balance and brightness, activate AI-supported modes, switch between saved presets or even operate several cameras simultaneously.
App connection: Insta360 Link Controller
Insta 360 Link 2 Pro and Link 2C Pro are controlled via the Insta360 Link Controller companion app. We are already familiar with this from the predecessor, where it scored points with its clear design and versatile setting options. This also applies once again to the new version. If you like, you can even pair the app with your smartphone and operate it via your cell phone.
Insta360 Link Controller impresses with its simple, intuitive structure, which conceals some powerful functions. On the main page, for example, you can adjust the resolution and frame rate, mute the microphone or switch between AI tracking, whiteboard mode and DeskView (points the camera at the desk to take unboxing shots, for example).
You can also quickly take screenshots or videos directly from the app. Very practical, as not every webcam software offers this. Another exciting new feature of the two webcams can also be found here: The AI-supported transcription function.
The latest 4K AI webcams from Insta360 also support Insta360 InSight via the Link Controller software. InSight is Insta360’s AI meeting assistant that simplifies the recording and analysis of meetings. Users can seamlessly record meetings, take minutes and generate AI-powered summaries that combine key visual moments with text markers for a faster and clearer meeting wrap-up.

We are already familiar with this system from the Insta360 Wave microphone (our test), for example, and it proved to be extremely useful in practice.
The detailed settings can be found on the right-hand side of the Insta 360 Link 2 Pro / Link 2C Pro software. For example, you can adjust various image parameters such as brightness, saturation or contrast and save them as predefined scenes that you can switch between at the touch of a button.
In the “View” section, the gimbal can be adjusted manually and, of course, there are plenty of effects and filters, ranging from virtual backgrounds and image presets to make-up and embellishment filters.
However, just like the green screen function, the make-up filters are only available if you are using a resolution of 1080p. Unfortunately, they cannot be used in 4K.
However, the Insta 360 Link 2 Pro / Link 2C Pro test showed that the green screen function and the bokeh effects still have room for improvement. The green screen only really works reliably if you have a monochrome wall behind you or are using a real green screen. The bokeh, on the other hand, still cuts out edges rather uncleanly.
However, the whole thing can be significantly improved using a virtual camera with the help of NVIDIA Broadcast and other tools. Essentially, the software impresses with its clear operating concept and versatile options.
Image and sound quality of the Insta360 Link 2 Pro / Link 2C Pro
Probably the most exciting new feature of the Insta 360 Link 2 Pro / Link 2C Pro is the image quality, which is due to the new sensor. With a size of 1/1.3″, it is now not only significantly larger, but also even brighter than that of the previous models. The aperture of f/1.9 also promises a convincing bokeh, while the manufacturer has also extended the field of view to 83.9°.

Combined with Dual Native ISO, a new generation of HDR and noticeably improved low-light performance, the new webcams deliver clearer, brighter and more detailed images in any environment. Both variants enable video recordings in up to 4K at 30 frames per second and impress with a high level of detail and intense, natural colors. The advanced True Focus system relies on a particularly fast phase detection autofocus (PDAF), which recognizes subjects immediately and reliably keeps them in focus even when in motion.
And indeed, the Insta 360 Link 2 Pro and Link 2C Pro deliver outstanding image quality, thanks to which both webcams are currently at the top of our list of best webcams. Image sharpness, level of detail and autofocus in particular make all competitors look pretty old. The autofocus in particular is incredibly fast and changes rapidly during movement or when an object is held in the frame. The close focusing distance of 12 cm is also very good.
The HDR mode is also largely convincing, although it was still somewhat slow to react to changes in lighting at the time of our test. When HDR is activated, the camera needs a few seconds – depending on the lighting – to display the image correctly, as the following shot with two frontal key lights shows.
However, I have to say that I don’t quite like the way the skin tones look with active HDR. The display without HDR is much closer to reality.
The built-in microphones also deserve a lot of praise. This is another point where Insta 360 Link 2 Pro / Link 2C Pro clearly gains ground. The dual microphone system records much more clearly and in greater detail, and you can choose between four audio modes within the software:
- Standard for everyday clarity with light noise reduction
- Original for natural, unprocessed sound
- Wide for recording multiple speakers or live streams
- Focus for isolating a single voice in busy or noisy rooms
A dedicated microphone still cannot replace the integrated solution, but recordings are pleasantly clear and rich in detail. With the standard option, however, the noise suppression interferes a little too much with the voice, so that some softly spoken words or syllables are cut off somewhat. Here, the Wide or Original modes deliver better results that are really worth listening to.
Insta360 Link 2 Pro / Link 2C Pro Review: Conclusion
While the two predecessors were already excellent 4K webcasts, the new Insta 360 Link 2 Pro and Insta 360 Link 2C Pro go several steps further. The image quality in particular benefits from the noticeably larger sensor, which not only ensures a sharper and more detailed image, but also significantly reduces image noise.
The autofocus of both cameras is also beyond reproach and currently makes all the competition look old, while gesture control and AI tracking also work reliably. There are also successful new features such as noticeably improved microphones, Stream Deck integration and the ability to record recordings and meetings using AI. All of this makes the Insta 360 Link 2 Pro and Link 2C Pro outstanding 4K webcams that are absolutely worth the money.
- Unbeatable image quality
- Fast autofocus
- Good microphones
- Strong AI features
- Intuitive operation
