SPC Gear SR600 RD in test – good quality from SilentiumPC

SilentiumPC is more known for cases and cooler solutions. The SPC Gear brand is responsible for gamer peripherals with mice, keyboards and also gaming chairs. We were provided with the SR600 RD by SPC Gear. The SR600 RD is a chair with PU leather in black and red. For 249 euros, it seems to be a very solid product that we test for you. The previous products have convinced us in the test at least across the board.

Scope of delivery and assembly

The package, which weighs around 25 kilograms, already takes quite a bit of effort to get it to the desired location due to its size. To get an overview, you should have some space, because each part is individually and again packed in the box. The instruction manual is together with screws and assembly wrench in an extra box.

Before we can start with the actual test, the SR600 RD has to be assembled, of course. The enclosed assembly instructions are clearly understandable and the necessary tools for assembly are included. If you lose a screw, don’t worry, SPC Gear adds another one for each assembly part.

On the whole, the assembly is easy to do on your own. Only to get the seat properly on the cylinder is a bit fiddly due to the weight, but also manageable alone. A second person, however, is certainly not wrong.

Design and workmanship

After assembly, we can finally take a look at the SPC Gear SR600 RD in full form. The PU leather makes the red and black color combination stand out even better than expected. Fittingly, the SPC Gear logo is also placed at the head end of the backrest. We get to see a full logo including lettering when we use the neck cushion or turn the chair around. We also find small color accents on the seat and backrest due to the red stitching.

The good impression after unpacking and us not clouded, the SR600 RD is top workmanship. Even during assembly, we had no trouble with incorrectly placed mounting holes, they were all perfectly positioned. The seams of the PU leather are just as well placed. No thread that sticks out and also the distances are very good. Even on close inspection, we couldn’t find any flaws.

Unfortunately, the look is somewhat affected by the PU leather. This already looks a bit “taken”, even if the chair has arrived fresh from production with us. In return, the material feels very high-quality.

Sitting comfort and ergonomics

However, good looks and great workmanship are of no use if you can’t sit comfortably on the chair. Compared to other gaming chairs, the SR600 RD has a wide backrest, so the chair is suitable for taller and wider people. The upholstery also makes a good impression. You don’t sink in too deep and still have a comfortable seat. Fittingly, the lumbar cushion is made of similar material and only adds to the good seating comfort. The neck pillow, on the other hand, is a bit too soft and gives way too much, which makes for neck pain during long hours of gaming.

Everyone has an individual seating position to gamble perfectly. With the SPC Gear SR600 RD you have all the tools at hand to find the best fit. The backrest can be tilted back up to 170 degrees, the chair itself can be tilted another 18 degrees and via the bottom we can adjust the resistance.

When it comes to seating comfort and ergonomics, however, the armrests also play an important role. SPC Gear uses 4D armrests. This means that they can not only be adjusted in height, but can also be shifted to the left/right and rotated. In terms of height, a whole 6 centimeters can be added.

Another point we can’t ignore are the wheels. Especially in the cheaper segment, they are more often the weak point, because they are poorly workmanship or difficult to roll. Since the SPC Gear SR600 RD with 249 euros is not necessarily in the high-end segment, we also have a special eye on it here. However, the casters are really good and the chair can be comfortably rolled into the desired position with one hand. Even when we sit on the chair, it’s really easy to roll without having to use a lot of force.

Summary on the SPC Gear SR600 RD

So in conclusion, here’s what we can say about the SR600 RD from SPC Gear. In addition to cases and other gaming hardware like mice and keyboards, SPC Gear can also make gaming chairs and they do it very well. The workmanship can convince us all along the line, as everything is really well made. Only the look of the PU leather takes some getting used to, but the rest is really appealing.

One of the most important aspects of a chair is the ergonomics, and the SR600 RD can convince here as well, albeit with small deductions due to the neck cushion. The adjustment options allow us to perfectly choose the desired sitting position, and the upholstery also invites us to longer gaming sessions.
