The new Couchmaster CYCON² from nerdytec: damn sexy!

On the couch decently at the PC with the enormous television before the nose zocken does not only go since yesterday. Clever gamers have long since come up with solutions as to the best and most comfortable way to do so for many hours at a time. The team of nerdytec perfected such a solution and called it Couchmaster. Since then, the company has been unstoppable in terms of ergonomic gaming from the sofa.

The latest model before the Cycon² was the Couchmaster CYBOT, which brought a snappy design, features small extras and was designed for both keyboards and laptops. In addition, the boys from nerdytec already dedicated themselves to the home office fraction this year with the Couchmaster CYWORX and presented a noble edition in fabric and wood optics. But that is not all: Just in time for Christmas nerdytec rings the doorbell and presents the next generation of the Couchmaster. Its name: CYCON2, Couchmaster CYCON2. And this time the manufacturer had external help concerning design and function.

We took a closer look at the new Couchmaster and compared how it differs from the previous one. A small spoiler should be mentioned at this point: There is a really great limited edition of the CYCON2 Couchmaster.

Design and construction are very impressive

At first glance, not much has changed in terms of construction. The Couchmaster still consists of two cushions and a board. But at second glance a lot has changed, both in terms of construction and technology. But one after the other.

For the Couchmaster CYCON2 the nerdytec nerds consulted the Faculty of Design and Art at the University of Wuppertal. Through this collaboration, a really sleek and good-looking design was created, which is focused on effectiveness and functionality – after all, only looking good is easy with products.

The cushions are covered with a microfiber fabric that looks and feels like suede. They were filled with memory cold foam. The size of the cushions has been reduced by one centimeter in height, which is hardly noticeable without having CYBOT and CYCON2 directly next to each other. Since we believe that the cushions were already perfectly ingenious in the previous model, we do not see any need for action.

What has evolved strongly, however, is the support, the core of the couch master. First it was enlarged, which not only provides more room for keyboard and mouse, but also more space between the cushions. These can be pushed apart up to 75 cm without the support becoming unstable. The total length of the support was the same for the previous model. We like more legroom. For the palms of the hands, the pad was also covered with imitation leather in the appropriate places.

Only the change from bamboo wood to plastic is a pity. But since the edition has missed some technical features, we can understand the ulterior motive that nerdytec had in mind. In addition, the company still cares for the environment and uses only high-quality recycled plastic.

We cannot understand the acrylic inserts, which are located on the upper side. These look good at first, but acrylic is a very scratch-prone material. Surely nerdytec could have solved this better.

In summary, the look of the Couchmaster CYCON2 is quite something. In the Black Edition, which we have submitted for testing, the cushions harmonize perfectly with the edition and the suede look and white seams give the Couchmaster a noble appearance. From our point of view, the nerdytec has already been a great success!

The technical extras

The rubberized pad not only looks good, but also has some connectors. In order to supply them with enough power, the couchmaster CYCON2 was fitted with a power cable developed especially for nerdytec. So all devices, which do not need more than 900 mA, get enough juice. The cable is only 0.8 meters long, so there is a 5 meter extension cable available.

Features the CYCON2 couchmaster with a total of six USB 3.0 ports. Two of them are visibly located on the top side of the couch, one of which is also suitable for quick loading. The remaining four are on the inside. Optimal cable management was also considered. All cables disappear through two holes on the left and right of the external USB ports. Two flaps on the bottom provide access to the cable management. There you can easily plug in and stow away. The flaps themselves are then held closed with neodymium magnets. These also resist wild jerks during intensive gaming. If that is not enough, you can use the enclosed safety screws, which we recommend.

In the end, the only thing you really see on cables is the piece between the periphery and disappearance in the edition. Furthermore, latency-free gaming is guaranteed by USB 3.0. Great Features!

The cushions also have more to offer

Of course, the cushions have also been given side pockets again. There the mouse can be stowed away in offline mode or remote controls. There is also a side pocket for drinks, so you don’t even have to leave the couch for that.

The Couchmaster CYCON2 has an extra pocket made of mesh fabric compared to its predecessor. So there is now even more space for things that are important for gambling – for example a chip bag.

That’s in

The CYCON2 couchmaster comes with everything you need. Everything has been packed in an environmentally friendly way with as little packaging material as possible. The cushions are even delivered vacuum-packed, which saves space.

When the package was delivered for testing, we were able to unpack the following things:

  • the padding
  • the two side cushions
  • the 0.8 m connection cable
  • a USB extension (5 m)
  • a power adapter
  • velcro tape, which is intended for fixing the periphery on the support
  • a gaming mousepad (not yet included in our test sample, it will be included in the versions available in stores)
  • 3 safety screws for the flaps
  • as well as the installation instructions

In our eyes this is a really comprehensive package, which is quite impressive.

Limited Edition & colors

If you are fast, you can currently get a Limited Edition with Cyberpunk design. This one is characterized by pictures from the game on the sides of the cushions and looks really nice. Just like the price: the limited edition is available for 199,00 Euro. A decent price, but for fans of the dystopian game probably not too much.

Otherwise, the Couchmaster CYCON2 is available in black and gray. For colorful contemporaries there is less to choose from, but who needs colors when you’re staring at the screen anyway.

Conclusion

All in all, the CYCON2 couchmaster looks both high-quality and robust. The materials have been carefully selected and more legroom has also been created. Features and the fact that there is only one connection cable – the predecessor had two. Thanks to USB 3.0 every device can be connected without latency, which is very important for many games.

In view of the scope of delivery, the functions, the materials and the construction itself, the price is also absolutely justified in our eyes; especially since the CYCON2 couchmaster is designed for durability. It was presented for 179,00 Euro, but in the pre-order phase it is available for 159,00 Euro in the nerdytec online store.

This Couchmaster is also expandable with accessories, which are also available in the online store of the manufacturer. This also ensures that you don’t have to get up at all. You only have to get the delivery service to bring the food to the couch, sorry, to the Couchmaster.
