This is rather unusual for a gaming monitor, but it gives it a mature look and fits well into a work environment. The bezels around the panel are pleasantly thin—except for the bottom edge—and are framed by a glass border.
You’ll notice its sheer size as soon as you unpack it: The 49-inch panel is well-packed in the box, and it takes quite a bit of physical effort to free it from the Styrofoam. Once that’s done, however, assembling this massive monitor is straightforward. The stand can be assembled in just a few steps using the included screwdriver; afterward, the mount simply snaps into place using the latch mechanism on the back. If you’d rather mount the monitor on the wall or attach it to a monitor arm, the package includes the appropriate spacers.
The build quality is decent for this price range. It’s nice that Titan Army has placed the control buttons centrally on the bottom and (unlike many competitors) labeled them clearly. Instead of fumbling blindly under the panel to find the right button, you know right away what you’re pressing. All ports are located on the bottom and can be hidden behind a cover plate that includes cable management.

The 1800R curvature ensures that the outer areas of the screen curve toward the viewer, keeping the distance to the eye more consistent across the entire width.
On paper, the feature list is impressive: a 240 Hz refresh rate, 1 ms MPRT response time, a high typical contrast ratio of 3,000:1, and support for AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync. This makes the monitor ideal not only for fans of racing games and simulations but also for ambitious shooter gamers. The color depth is 8-bit plus FRC.
Ports, KVM, and Gaming Features
In terms of ports, the Titan Army is well-equipped. On the bottom are an HDMI input, two DisplayPort connectors, and a USB-C port. The latter serves as an all-in-one port for a PC or laptop and transmits both video signals and data simultaneously; according to the manufacturer, it delivers up to 65 watts of Power Delivery to directly power a laptop. However, it is not a dedicated USB-C data port for peripherals—I would have liked to see an additional port here during testing, for example, for a Stream Deck.
The real highlight, aside from the display itself, is the built-in KVM switch. A USB-B upstream port and two USB-A ports allow you to connect a mouse and keyboard to the monitor and switch between two computers. In practice, this works well: For example, you can run your home office PC on one side of the screen and your personal laptop on the other—even simultaneously, thanks to Picture-by-Picture and Picture-in-Picture—and control both with the same mouse and keyboard. For multitasking and hybrid work, this is a real added value that is by no means a given in this price range.
On the gaming front, the C49C1S offers the usual but useful features: a pop-up crosshair overlay, a zoom or “Hawk Eye” mode for magnifying a section of the screen, and a night vision feature that brightens dark areas of the game. And now for the most important point. Out of the box, the C49C1S is initially disappointing. Despite an included P3 calibration certificate, the monitor is poorly calibrated in its default state. In Standard mode—as well as in the “Display P3” profile—the brightness is reduced by about 50 percent, ranging from only 160 to 200 nits. As a result, the image appears too dark and washed-out overall; the black level is too high right out of the box, and the contrast ratio is consequently far from the advertised 3,000:1.
The good news: With just a few simple steps, you can achieve a really good picture. If you turn the brightness up to 100 percent, the monitor averages around 340 nits, reaching as high as 385 nits in the center of the screen. If you also apply a calibrated color profile, you’ll drastically lower the black level and significantly boost the contrast. The initially moderate color deviations are then pleasantly low. In short: The monitor is capable of much more than it shows right out of the box—you just have to give it a little nudge to get it going.
When it comes to gaming, the C49C1S really shows its true strength, which is simply: immersion. The 32:9 aspect ratio creates a genuine cockpit feel, especially in racing games and simulations. In *Forza Horizon 6*, the driver’s view lets you see noticeably more of the interior and the surroundings, which draws you deep into the action. In sports games like EA Sports FC or FIFA, the advantage becomes almost unfair: During cutscenes, you can take in the entire stadium at a glance, and during matches, you can see nearly the entire field at once, allowing you to spot players making runs early on and better read the game situation. In shooters, too, the expanded field of view offers a tangible advantage over traditional 16:9 displays.
Productivity and media consumption also benefit from the massive screen area: two to three windows can be comfortably arranged side by side, maps and timelines in video editing programs have significantly more space, and even a movie in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio looks impressive on the even wider panel. Where traditional monitors reach their limits, the C49C1S is in its element.

As always, a monitor must also prove itself objectively. The measurement results confirm the mixed impression from real-world use. At full brightness, the panel reaches 385 cd/m² at the center and averages around 342 cd/m². With a uniformity of 82 percent across such a large surface, the backlighting isn’t perfect but is acceptable.
The most interesting aspect is the contrast. Out of the box, the monitor has a black level of 0.58 cd/m², resulting in a measured contrast ratio of only around 664:1—far below the specified value. Only after manual calibration does the black level drop to nearly zero, causing the contrast to increase dramatically and reach the level typical of VA panels. This is precisely where we see just how much potential the panel has—potential that the factory settings fail to realize.
In terms of color space, the C49C1S fully covers sRGB; however, according to measurements, it covers only about 84 percent of the larger DCI-P3 space—despite being marketed as a P3 display. Color accuracy improves significantly with calibration: The Delta E value in the ColorChecker drops from around 3.2 out of the box to a very good 1.55. As for flicker, there’s no cause for concern: Although the monitor uses backlight modulation, it operates at a very high 6,670 Hz and should therefore pose no problem even for sensitive users.
A clear weakness remains the viewing angle dependency typical of VA panels. The image looks good when viewed head-on, but even at a slightly oblique angle, the content loses saturation and appears paler. With a 49-inch-wide panel, this is more noticeable than on smaller monitors, since the outer areas are inevitably viewed at a flatter angle—though the curvature noticeably mitigates this effect. In terms of power consumption, this giant performs reasonably well: At full brightness, it draws about 70 watts; at half brightness, about 50 watts; and when turned off, just 0.25 watts.

The catch lies in the details. The factory settings are poor and fail to make the most of the panel’s potential. Without calibration—or at least a few adjustments in the OSD—the image appears too dark and lacks contrast.
