Schenker VISION 14 – Ultrabook with 3K in 16:10 format

Schenker expands its VISION series with another laptop. The Schenker VISION 14 has a high-resolution IPS panel in 16:10 format and comes in at just one kilogram in terms of weight.

State-of-the-art features

The Schenker VISION 14 (M21) offers Intel’s Tiger Lake processors up to the Core i7-1165G7, so the laptop comes up with plenty of office and multimedia performance. You can choose between a Core i5-1135G7 and the somewhat faster Core i7-1165G7, each with four cores, eight threads and a high-performance Xe graphics unit including extended functions for hardware acceleration of HEVC, VP9 or AV1 video material. Intel’s 11th generation processors operate with a maximum TDP of up to 28 watts under load, whereas the competition from the thin-and-light segment already draws the line at 15 watts.

Thin-and-Light Concept

Despite the thin-and-light concept, the VISION 14 doesn’t sacrifice flexibility and connectivity. The laptop has expandable RAM since it is not soldered in place, plus there are two M.2 SSD slots and a wide variety of ports including Thunderbolt 4. There are two SO-DIMM slots for up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and two M.2 SSD slots with PCI Express connectivity. The primary M.2 slot is connected via four PCIe 4.0 lanes and thermally connected to the case via the thermal pad. Thus, the full potential can be accessed. Thus, the user gets a decent overall package.

The ports of the VISION 14 are actually well distributed here. The laptop has a DisplayPort-capable USB-C port, which also allows charging the external USB-C power adapter. In addition, there are two USB-A, a 2-in-1 audio port as well as an HDMI port, and an SD card reader for SDXC storage. With the Thunderbolt 4 port, the VISION 14 laptop also provides a versatile high-performance interface.

Weighing just one kilogram, the Schenker VISION 14 is the lightest 14-inch laptop in the world to date. The weight is of course dependent on the configuration. The unibody case is made of an AZ91D magnesium alloy and thus provides a good haptic as well as a discreet elegance. At the same time, the laptop’s thermal properties have been optimized. The overall height of the VISION 14 ranges from 13.6 to 15.6 mm, which further emphasizes the elegance.

Display options with up to 3K

An ultra-narrow bezel display is installed in the VISION 14, which has a border of only 4 mm on both sides. The webcam is integrated on the display’s upper edge for an advantageous shooting angle. In the best configuration variant, the laptop has an IPS panel with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,880 pixels. The display covers the sRGB color space by 99 percent and achieves a maximum brightness of 380 cd/m². With these values, nothing stands in the way of content creation applications. The refresh rate here is 90 Hz and thus achieves a smooth display. Apart from the IPS panel, there is also a Full HD display with 1,920 x 1,200 pixels and 330 cd/m² to choose from, which covers 95% of the sRGB color space.

Regardless of whether it is an IPS or UAS panel, both options are pre-calibrated at the factory. The user can download and install the individual ICC color profile with just one click via the Control Center and integrate the normal Windows color management. Both variants have a 16:10 aspect ratio, which means the viewing angle from the vertical is slightly larger. The laptop’s opening angle is up to 160 degrees and can thus be perfectly adjusted to the user’s current situation.

The keyboard of the Schenker VISION 14 is designed for continuous use, with a clearly defined pressure point, a comfortable key drop and two-stage, neutral white backlight. In addition, there is an Fn-Lock function. Thus, the F-keys can be permanently assigned with secondary functions. Besides the keyboard, the laptop has a generously sized, Microsoft Precision-compliant glass touchpad, which comes to a gliding surface of 13 x 8 cm.

Availability and pricing

The new Schenker VISION 14 (M21) can be ordered now at a price starting at 1,099 euros. Delivery is then planned from mid-June. Schenker gives a warranty of 36 months.
