Mobile gaming continues to grow, but what is the appeal of it in 2021

Mobile gaming is booming. In fact, more people played mobile games in 2020 than ever before. The growth shown has been quite remarkable, especially when you factor in the mobile gaming options of old, with Snake and Tetris being the main two games to play in the early days. Times have certainly changed.

The gaming options on offer using a smartphone are comprehensive. The overall gaming landscape is in healthy shape too, which has led to an overall improvement in the mobile gaming experience. Innovation shows no signs of slowing down either, with our smartphones being more graphically advanced and demonstrating more sophistication than we have ever known before. As a result, our smartphones can now house more powerful apps and games in the process, with developers all around the world aiming to crack what is a highly lucrative market.

Mobile gaming is here to stay. Many experts think it will only continue to get better, too. This all comes despite the fact that the newly-released PS5 is out, alongside other handheld gaming devices like the Nintendo Switch. Surely gaming on a smartphone can’t compete with gaming on a more powerful console? What does mobile gaming offer that gaming on a console doesn’t? Let’s take a look.

Entertainment on the go

Mobile gaming can be enjoyed throughout the day. We all have access to a smartphone in 2021, therefore opening up gaming on a phone to the masses. Most mobile games are generally designed to be picked up and put down also, making it easy for people to have a quick session while waiting for an appointment or on the bus during the morning commute to work. Whether you’re starting with the basic rules of online blackjack at casino.com/uk or attempting to see off all of your enemies on Fortnite, gaming on a phone is casual, and the gaming options are vast. As for console gaming, the games are generally more detailed and a lot harder, putting casual gamers off. Gaming on a console requires more time and attention as a result, something that not every person has, especially after a long day at work or if you have a family to look after. With that in mind, gaming on a phone is definitely more consumer-friendly. It can be done anywhere and at any time.

Cheap and free games

Console gaming isn’t cheap. In fact, it’s most definitely not accessible to all. Purchasing an actual console is far from kind on the wallet; neither is buying the games to go with it. On the other hand, most mobile games are either incredibly cheap or totally free. All you need is access to Google Play or App Store, and you can download an array of games within a matter of seconds, play them all, and then decide which one you’d like to session without spending a penny. Console gamers can’t do that.
