Baseus Nomos 245W test: design and workmanship

The Baseus Nomos 245W already makes a high-quality impression at first glance. With compact dimensions of 14.4 x 6.61 x 3.5 cm, the station is surprisingly compact when you consider that a 6-in-1 charging solution has been installed here. The black housing looks elegant and fits perfectly into any modern working environment. The device relies on modern GaN technology, which makes it possible to pack such enormous performance into such a compact housing.

An absolute highlight is the magnetic Qi2 charging pad on the top, which can be folded back by up to 180 degrees. In the upright position, it holds iPhones and other compatible smartphones securely in portrait or landscape mode and raises them about 7.5 cm above the desk surface. Perfect for a quick glance at notifications while working. When the pad is folded down completely, the station becomes even flatter and is ideal for charging AirPods cases or other Qi2-compatible devices.

The integrated 3-inch LCD display in the front center of the station is another well thought-out feature that I have come to really appreciate in practice. At the touch of a button, you can switch between different views: the total power, the individual power per port or a performance overview. This means I always have an overview of how much power is being consumed and where. More than just a nice gimmick.

The two built-in, retractable USB-C cables on the sides of the station are also exciting. They can each be pulled out of the housing by 80 centimeters and find their way back inside to save space.

The scope of delivery of the Baseus Nomos 245W

One small drawback, however, is the power supply unit of the Baseus Nomos 245W, which is rather bulky and clunky. In fact, it is almost bigger, but definitely heavier than the charging station itself. This is not a problem for stationary use at a desk, but the Nomos 245W is less suitable for traveling or mobile use. You have to make compromises here if you want the high performance.

Connections and features of the Baseus Nomos 245W

The connection options of the Baseus Nomos 245W are impressive and cover almost every conceivable charging scenario. As a 6-in-1 charging station, it is equipped for all eventualities. A total of six different charging options are available, which I used extensively in the practical test:

The two permanently installed USB-C ports on the front are the absolute powerhouses of the station and each support up to 140W via the PD 3.1 standard. This means that even power-hungry notebooks can be fast-charged. Important to know: The power is of course limited to 245 watts and is divided between the two ports.

The two retractable USB-C cables each deliver up to 100 watts of power. This power is easily sufficient for most laptops, tablets, headphones, cameras and smartphones. The big advantage: no more loose cables on your desk.

The 18W USB-A port on the side may seem a little weak at first glance, but there’s more to it than that. In fact, it is a universal fast charging solution for all devices and protocols. For devices that support special fast charging standards such as Huawei SCP or VOOC, the port can even deliver up to 22.5W. And let’s be honest: a USB-A port is still necessary these days.

The Qi2 wireless charging pad on the top delivers up to 15W of wireless charging. In my tests, my Pixel 10 Pro charged reliably and at a good speed. The magnetic MagSafe-compatible holder sits firmly and securely. Even if I accidentally bump into the desk, the smartphone stays in place.

The Baseus Nomos 245W always distributes the maximum charging power intelligently, based on the connections currently in use. A typical scenario would be, for example, charging a notebook with 100 watts, the smartphone with 15 watts on the Qi2 pad and another two or three devices on the other connections, which works perfectly.

Baseus Nomos 245W in a practical test

The charging station makes a very good impression in the practical test. The Baseus Nomos 245W significantly simplifies everyday desk work. Where previously there was a tangle of individual power supply units, cables and adapters, there is now a single, elegant charging station that reliably supplies all devices with power.

In a typical working day, several devices can easily be charged at the same time. Be it a laptop, smartphone, tablet, wireless headphones or camera. The 245W total output is more than sufficient for the vast majority of application scenarios. Even if four medium-sized laptops are charged at the same time (three with 65W each and one with 45W), the station can cope. For normal users, this power is absolutely sufficient and future-proof.

Baseus Nomos 245W
The power supply is huge. The only real point of criticism

The LCD display proves to be a practical feature for keeping an eye on energy consumption. When testing different devices, it allows you to see exactly how much power a particular device is actually charging. The display is clearly legible and reacts immediately at the touch of a button.

The retractable cables still work perfectly even after weeks of use. The retraction mechanism works smoothly and the cables are easy to pull out. Particularly practical: as the cables are permanently installed, there is no need to search for the right USB-C cable – it is simply always there. In my opinion, the length of 80 cm is well dimensioned for desktop use and provides plenty of flexibility.

Qi2 wireless charging with 15W may not be the fastest charging method, but it is absolutely sufficient for everyday use. Smartphones can simply be placed on the pad while working and charge on the side. The magnetic holder in stand mode is even suitable for video calls or as a second screen for notifications.

A big plus point: the station does not get excessively hot even under load. The GaN technology ensures efficient heat dissipation. There are also several operating modes for increased cooling, maximum performance or balanced use. Even after hours of operation with several connected devices, the temperature in my practical test of the Baseus Nomos 245W remained within the normal range.

As far as compatibility is concerned, there are no problems. Whether Apple devices, Android smartphones, Windows laptops or tablets: everything is recognized and charged at the right speed. The intelligent power distribution works reliably and automatically adapts to the connected devices.

For the price, you definitely get a high-quality premium charging station that justifies its price in my eyes. The build quality, performance and well thought-out features make the investment absolutely worthwhile for power users and professionals. If you don’t need quite as much power, you can also opt for the smaller 5-in-1 version with 160W, which only has a retractable cable and is cheaper.

Baseus Nomos 245W Review: Conclusion

The Baseus Nomos 245W (NH21) is one of the most powerful and well-designed charging stations I have had the pleasure of testing. It delivers exactly what it promises: a tidy desk with maximum charging power for all devices. The combination of two 140W USB-C ports, two 100W retractable cables, a 22.5W USB-A port and 15W Qi2 wireless charging covers practically every use case.

The biggest advantages are the enormous total output of 245W, the compact design despite the high output thanks to GaN technology, the practical retractable cables for more organization and the informative LC display for power monitoring. The flexible positioning of the magnetic Qi2 charging pad and the support of all common fast charging protocols are also clear plus points.

There are few disadvantages, but they should not go unmentioned: The clunky power supply unit makes the station less travel-friendly and the price of around 180 euros is of course not without its drawbacks. But apart from that? Objectively speaking, there is nothing to criticize.

For content creators, professionals and anyone who works with several devices on a daily basis, the Baseus Nomos 245W is a clear recommendation to buy. It simplifies everyday work considerably, keeps the desk tidy and provides enough power for practically any scenario.
