iPad no longer turns on – in a few steps to solve the problem
We now show you steps with which you can solve the problem. For this, it is initially not too relevant what the cause is. If you can rule out a simply empty battery, you can follow the procedure described below without further diagnostics.
Step 1: Connect iPad to the power supply
First, connect your iPad to the power supply and charge it for several hours. If the battery is deeply discharged, this is necessary to make the device ready to start again. If the iPad can be restarted after that, you can stop at this point and use it again as usual.
Step 2: Force a restart
If charging didn’t help, you should try forcing a restart. If your iPad has a home button, press it for several seconds along with the power button to do this. If your iPad does not have a home button, you will need to press and hold the top volume button along with the power button for several seconds instead.
Step 3: Connect iPad to a PC
If the iPad still doesn’t turn on, you can connect it via charging cable to a PC that has the latest iTunes version installed. Now, while the iPad is connected to the PC, force a reboot. This should give you the opportunity to reset or update the device. Note, however, that your saved data will be lost when you reset.
Step 4: Contact Apple
If all this doesn’t help, there seems to be a more serious problem. In this case, you should contact Apple. Maybe there is a warranty case and your device can be replaced. It might also be that only a single part, such as the battery, needs to be replaced. You can also have such a repair done at other repair shops.
