Arctic Liquid Freezer II affected by problem

The Liquid Freezer II series from Arctic has a problem. According to the manufacturer, a possible problem was found during a routine quality control check on certain Liquid Freezer II.

Arctic Liquid Freezer II with seal problem

The Arctic Liquid Freezer II series of coolers has been showered with awards since its launch in 2019. We, too, tested the Liquid Freezer II 240 RGB in May 2021 and could only report good things.

However, as the manufacturer now informs us, there is a problem with the seal:

“In some products, a chemical reaction may occur between the copper cold plate and the gasket because the gasket is not sufficiently vulcanized. This reaction of sulfur residues and the copper plate can cause deposits, which in the long term can lead to a reduction in cooling performance, up to a loss of coolant,” said the manufacturer.

Products affected manufactured between May 2021 and March 2022

Which products are specifically affected, it is difficult to say. According to the manufacturer, Liquid Freezer II models manufactured between May 2021 and March 2022 are particularly affected. All variants that were delivered before May 2021 are therefore not affected by the problem.

“The degeneration of the seal is a slow process that can occur within the warranty period of 6 years. Thus, there is no need to panic. However, we recommend that all affected coolers be serviced as soon as possible,” the manufacturer added.

All products on the market, as well as the models in our own warehouse, have already been withdrawn, subjected to additional quality controls and replaced to ensure that no further affected products enter the market.

“We have increased quality assurance and quality control and have additionally marked these products with a “QC Passed” sticker,” Arctic shares.

Replacement with Service Kit

In order to safely guarantee the runtime of 6 years, they said they have developed a service kit to ensure the shortest possible interruption. This allows the gasket and copper plate of the Liquid Freezer II to be replaced quickly and easily.

The replacement is done in a few steps, does not require any expertise and is quite simple. In the video, you can see what needs to be taken into account during installation. However, those affected can also contact the support team with any uncertainties or questions.

Are you affected?

To find out if you are affected by the issue, you can fill out a form on the manufacturer’s website. In it, the respective model, the country to which the order was originally shipped, and the date of purchase are specified.

Subsequently, if necessary, you will receive the free service kit, consisting of copper plate, gasket, MX-5 0.8 g, additional coolant and screws. The 6-year warranty will always remain in effect.

We are confident in the quality of our products and are committed to keeping our promise to our customers. We are sorry that we need the help of our customers in this case. We would like to formally thank our customers for their cooperation in implementing a sustainable solution

It is also possible to send the cooling to the manufacturer to have it replaced. Due to the shipping time for the round-trip shipping, depending on the destination, it may be that this will require a few weeks without the product. Also for this a separate form is available.
