Cybersecurity: Chrome closes security gaps with update

Chrome users beware! The browser from Google is apparently suffering from a serious security vulnerability. You should now urgently close it with a software update.

Things are not going so well for the internet browser from the big tech company at the moment. You can get the feeling that one security vulnerability follows the next. As a result, the company is making efforts to ensure reliable protection for its users again. Now there has apparently been another problem with Chrome’s cybersecurity.

At the very least, the company has released a software update to close at least one serious vulnerability. This makes it all the more important that you, as a regular user of the browser, make every effort to use the latest version. You can check this quickly and easily via the browser settings. To do this, click on the three dots in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

Then click on “Help” and then on “About Google Chrome”. Here you can see which version you are currently using. It is important that 123.0.6312.86 for Windows or 123.0.6312.87 for MacOS is the latest version. Otherwise, you need to make an urgent effort to update. For Linux and Android, the latest software version is 123.0.6312.80.

Update solves several problems at once

The update to the latest version of the Google browser not only closes a security gap. In fact, there appear to have been several vulnerabilities in the program. The tech company even classifies one of them as critical and therefore extremely dangerous. It should be possible for third parties to access the software’s memory.

As a result, criminals could, for example, smuggle malware onto other systems and then execute it there. In addition to the truly alarming security vulnerability, there are said to be three more. These are not classified as critical, but are “only” said to pose a high risk. The update is also said to have solved other problems, resulting in a total of seven improvements.
