The Gigaset GS5 senior in detail

Especially active older people are sometimes overwhelmed by modern smartphones. However, those who still want to acquire a modern and powerful device and are not looking for the typical “senior phone” with monstrous buttons will find what they are looking for with the new Gigaset GS5 senior.

It is primarily aimed at those who have not yet used a smartphone. Compared to the predecessor in the form of the GS4 senior, the cameras have been improved, for example. The GS5 senior uses a dual camera system with a 48 MP main camera and an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle and macro camera.

In addition, there is a long-lasting removable battery with a capacity of 4,500 mAh and a simplified and automatic text input thanks to voice recognition. The modern Android 12 is used as the operating system, while a textured back ensures a secure grip.

Large buttons, a self-explanatory menu, a robust design, charging via a magnetic cable, unlocking with finger or face recognition, and clever additional features such as an emergency call button and hearing aid compatibility make the GS5 senior a compelling smartphone for older people.

6.3-inch Full HD+ display

The Gigaset GS5 senior relies on a 6.3-inch display in Full-HD+ resolution that is easy to read thanks to high-contrast menus and large fonts. The device has a customizable home screen for up to eight applications that can be arranged individually. A protective film for the display is already applied, while a practical fold-out protective PU leather case is also already included.

The smartphone’s home screen also features an emergency call button that can be used to quickly summon help. The emergency number 112 is already stored, a personal additional number can also be stored. The device can also send emergency text messages to predefined numbers with a pre-written message and also transmits the current location.

Four gigabytes of working memory and 64 GB of system memory are available on the GS5 senior, whereby the latter can be expanded by up to 512 GB via microSD card.

Price and availability

The Gigaset GS5 senior is now available in the color Titanium Grey in stores, as well as in the online store of the manufacturer. The recommended retail price is 299.00 euros.
