Google Domains officially launched in Germany – with introductory discount

Google Domains has been in beta status for seven years, but now the domain registration service has been officially launched in 26 additional countries. During the beta, the service was only available in the USA. We tell you what to expect in the service offer.

Google Domains leaves beta behind

Back in 2015, the search engine giant launched Google Domains in the USA. Its own service for registering domains. Now, seven years later, it is finally leaving beta status and officially launching in Germany, Switzerland and 24 other countries worldwide.

Google Domains offers a choice of over 300 domain extensions – including, for example, “.photography” or “.cafe”, which should immediately give an idea of what a visitor can expect to find on the website.

The prices vary greatly. They start at seven euros per year for a .de domain, while a .com address costs 12 euros per year. More exotic endings such as .design (38 euros per year) or .media (29 euros per year) are considerably more expensive. A complete overview of the prices, endings and features can be found directly on the Website of Google.

Google Domains with extensive feature set

Google Domains, however, includes not only the pure domain, but many additional features from data protection or customer support. Included in the price are email forwarding, data protection, one-click DNSSEC and two-step confirmation from Google, among others.

In addition, Google’s cloud DNS servers can be used, while forwarding for up to 100 email aliases and other Google Workspace tools are included. Email addresses are said to be quickly and easily linked to an existing address at Gmail or another provider.

Additional security is provided by DNSSEC to protect against DNS threats such as cache poisoning and DNS spoofing, and non-public protection of contact data in WHOIS and RDAP to prevent spam. Also offered are free and paid tools to create and host your own website and integration with Google Ads.

20 percent discount at launch

As an introductory offer for the launch of Google Domains, 20 percent off a domain registration or transfer also beckons. With the code “DOMAINS20” you can secure the discount, which must not exceed a maximum value of 5 euros. The offer is only valid until April 15, 2022 or while stocks last.
