Huawei Watch Fit 2 starts from 150 euros with new Health+ subscription

In addition to the classy GT3 Pro smartwatch, Huawei has introduced another, much more affordable wearable. The Huawei Watch Fit 2 focuses more on fitness and health features, but also functions as a classic smartwatch. Moreover, it starts at an attractive price and can be coupled with the new health subscription service Huawei Health+.

The features of the Huawei Watch Fit 2

Just 26 grams or 30 grams without the strap, the new smartwatch Huawei Watch Fit 2, depending on the model, weighs in. It measures 46 x 33.5 x 10.8 mm and is nevertheless equipped with a rectangular, 1.74-inch AMOLED color screen. It has a resolution of 336 x 480 pixels and thus a pixel density of 336 ppi.

The Fit 2 is offered in three variants, which in turn come in different color schemes. The Active Edition, which is designed for wrists between 130 mm and 210 mm, is the first. It is the lightest version of the Fit 2 with 26 grams and is offered in the colors Midnight Black, Sakura Pink and Isle Blue. The case here is made entirely of polymer, while the strap is made of silicone.

In the middle is positioned the Classic Edition for wrist sizes of 140 – 210 mm. It weighs 30 grams and comes in the colors Nebula Gray and Moon White. The front of the case is also made of aluminum, while the white model comes with a leather strap.

The top model of the Huawei Watch Fit 2 is called Elegant Edition for a wrist size between 120 mm and 200 mm, which also weighs 30g. It comes in the colors Premium Gold and Silver Frost and also relies on an aluminum back. In return, there is a Milanaise bracelet matching the color of the case.

What else can the Fit 2 do?

The Huawei Watch Fit 2 is equipped with a touchscreen and a single physical button on the right side in all variants. A 9-axis IMU sensor is also offered, which is responsible for acceleration, gyroscope and geomagnetic data, among other things. In addition, there is an optical heart rate sensor.

Among other things, an all-day SpO2 measurement, heart rate tracking, a cycle tracker or sleep monitoring are offered. Fitness enthusiasts can choose from 97 workout modes, which also feature a virtual personal trainer with voice instructions.

Before and after the workout, the Fit 2 prompts you to warm up or stretch and records data in real time during the run. Routing and navigation are done via GPS with a 5-satellite dual-channel system.

Another new feature: thanks to Bluetooth 5.2, built-in microphones and speakers, the Fit 2 is now also able to receive and make calls directly on the smartwatch. SMS and WhatsApp messages can also be answered quickly via voice input, but this requires an Android smartphone with version 7.0 or higher or Huawei devices with EMUI 10.1 or higher.

The battery life is supposed to be up to 10 days with typical use. Heavy users will need to charge the smartwatch after 7 days using the included charging dock.

Huawei Health+ subscription launches

At the same time as the Watch Fit 2, Huawei is introducing the new Health+ subscription model. It costs 7.99 euros per month or 59.99 euros for annual payment. Among other things, it offers voice-controlled workouts, dynamic 3D run tracking via GPS, nutrition plans and food trackers, various fitness plans tailored to the user’s own body, as well as additional breathing and relaxation exercises, wellness features, and advanced sleep analysis.

The Huawei Health app, which is currently still in beta, will be finalized with the launch of Health+. The first month in the new subscription model is free for owners of the app. With the new purchase of a current smartwatch of the manufacturer, there are even three months free. In the process, the new Health app including Health+ are to be launched on June 30 in Germany and then finally also for iOS devices.

Prices and availability

The Huawei Watch Fit 2 is available in stores from June 02, 2022, only the blue model is waiting until June 10. It starts at an MSRP of 149.00 euros for the Active Edition variants. The Classic Edition, on the other hand, is priced at 179.00 euros, while the Elegant Edition is said to be 229.00 euros.

The latter is not yet listed in the manufacturer’s store, though. Pre-orderers will get 6 months of Adidas Runtastic Premium and the Huawei FreeBuds 4i for free.
