Hyundai Ioniq 5 to get a facelift – and more range!

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a real bestseller for the car manufacturer from the Far East. But now it is obviously time for a breath of fresh air. A facelift is to serve as a fresh cell treatment for appearance and technology.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 gets a fine-tuned facelift

It’s the inner values that count. At least that’s what Hyundai seems to have had in mind when facelifting its Ioniq 5. This is the impression you get when you take a look at the first pictures of the electric car. These have now appeared on the Korean website of the successful automotive group. A glance at the bodywork quickly makes it clear that Hyundai has used the pipette to make innovations here.

Among other things, the rear spoiler has been revised. But there are also new headlights and a slightly modified bumper. In addition, the range of colors in which you can have the electric car painted has now been expanded. What should please many users is the newly added rear window wiper. This was unceremoniously missing from the original version.

A lot more has been done in the interior. The biggest change, however, should be felt by the occupants with their eyes closed. According to Hyundai, the sound insulation has been adjusted to reduce rolling and wind noise. With your eyes open, you can see the new seats and other revised interior details.

Hyundai has now given the steering wheel touch buttons with illumination. The buttons for the climate control are also new. There are also new USB-C ports. These are now located in the center console. It should now also be possible to unlock the car using a smartphone.

Almost 30 kilometers more

The changes in terms of technology are much more important than the small fresh exterior features. The facelift makes a particularly big leap forward in terms of the battery. Thanks to 7 kWh more than in the original version, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 should no longer “only” be able to cover 458 km. Instead, Hyundai claims a range of 485 km. However, the further technical development of the battery should only have an impact on the maximum range. The charging times are the same as those of the first Ioniq 5, which is not really disruptive. It should take just 18 minutes for the battery level to increase from 10 to 80%.

Price and availability uncertain

As mentioned at the beginning, the data on the appearance and technology of the facelift comes from the manufacturer’s Korean website. Accordingly, we do not currently know when and at what price the revised Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be launched on the market. In South Korea, the price remains the same as before. Will this also be the case here in Germany?
