Instabox: Swedish parcel service wants to compete with DHL

Instabox is a new parcel service from Scandinavia that wants to take on DHL, Hermes and others. The Swedish company wants to take over the market and is setting itself extremely ambitious goals.

Parcel service Instabox launches in Germany

In three German regions to start with, the Swedish parcel service Instabox wants to compete with major providers such as DHL, Hermes, UPS and Co in the coming year. In addition to its own parcel stations, the company also plans to set up its own logistics centers as quickly as possible.

The Stockholm-based startup, founded in 2015, will begin operations in the Federal Republic of Germany in 2022. Initially, however, only in Bremen and Hamburg, North Rhine-Westphalia is also to follow in the course of the year. The first logistics centers are reportedly to be built in Düsseldorf and Berlin. Around 1,000 parcel stations are planned for the first year.

Instabox launches with ambitious goals

The startup says it wants to “convince with speed and green delivery.” The entire supply chain is to be realized completely without fossil fuel emissions. Due to automated processes, the delivery time should also be particularly short.

Instabox is planning “same-day delivery”, i.e. the delivery of orders on the same day, seven days a week. The company has already been able to win fashion house H&M as its first major customer, which will in future deliver exclusively with the startup’s vehicles in the regions mentioned.

“We are confident that consumers in Germany will appreciate our service,” Alexis Priftis, founder and CEO of Instabox told WirtschaftsWoche. Instabox is currently already active in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands. In Germany, the company plans to hire between 500 and 1000 additional employees in the first year.
