Kingston Fury Renegade: M.2 SSD comes with 7.3 GB/s and up to 4 TB storage space

Would you like it to be a little bit faster? The new Kingston Fury Renegade SSD with PCIe 4.0 in M.2 format ignites the turbo and reaches an impressive speed of up to 7.3 GB/s. This is even faster than the in-house KC3000. Thus, it is even faster than the KC3000 from Kingston and also relies on a Phison E18 controller and TLC NAND.

Full potential

With an M.2-2280 form factor, Phison E18 controller, 3D TLC NAND, a Graphene cooler, and up to 4TB of storage, the new Kingston Fury Renegade relies on very similar technology to the in-house KC3000. However, there are also some differences:

The maximum speed of the SSD designed for gaming is 7,300 MB/s for reading and 7,000 MB/s for writing, as well as a maximum of one million IOPS for random reading and writing. Thus, 300 MB more throughput is achieved with otherwise identical values.

In terms of storage capacity, the Fury Renegade offers slightly less. Kingston offers variants with 500 GB, 1,000 GB, 2,000 GB and 4,000 GB. In comparison, the KC3000 offers 512 GB, 1,024 GB, 2,048 GB and 4,096 GB. On the other hand, the lifetime in Total Bytes Written is about 20 percent higher with TBW values of 500 TB, 1,000 TB, 2,000 TB and 4,000 TB. However, the warranty period of 5 years is again shared by both PCIe 4.0 SSDs.

Prices and availability

While the KC3000 is already officially available, Kingston is still keeping extremely quiet about the Fury Renegade. Both prices and the market launch are not yet known. The online retailer Cyberport lists the smallest model with 500 GB storage at a price of 188.90 Euros, but does not mention a delivery date yet.
