With the T5 II True Wireless ANC, Klipsch launches the successor of the just recently released in-ear headphones, which come up with an exciting feature. In addition to active noise cancellation, innovative head shake control is also in the mix.
The features of the Klipsch T5 II True Wireless ANC
In addition to the ANC function, which is already in the name, the T5 II True Wireless ANC waiting with the digital sound optimization DIRAC HD Sound. This allows the frequency curve to be dynamically adjusted, for example, to improve the clarity, bass reproduction or intelligibility of vocals. Users can also deactivate this function via the corresponding app.
Two microphones in each earphone are supposed to attenuate the environment by up to 35 dB thanks to active noise cancellation. Klipsch even installs a total of six microphones, which is supposed to ensure successful noise suppression even during phone calls.
A transparency mode is also available, which deliberately forwards noises from the surroundings to the ears via the microphones – an exciting and welcome option, especially in public traffic.
The dynamic drivers of the T5 II True Wireless ANC come in at 5.8 mm and map a frequency range of 10 Hz to 19 kHz, which is a good value. The in-ear headphones use the Bluetooth 5.0 standard, multipoint for simultaneous connection of multiple end devices, however, there is no.
Innovative control via head movement
In terms of operation, Klipsch has come up with something special for the T5 II True Wireless ANC. In addition to touch control via the sides of the earbuds, which also gives access to the voice assistant via pressure, the in-ears can also be used by nodding or shaking your head thanks to Bragi Move.
A nod accepts incoming calls, while a shake of the head skips the current song. The manufacturer promises accurate calibration, which should minimize unintentional mis-entries caused by normal head movements while exercising or on the go.
With the help of the so-called sidekicks, the ANC and the transparency mode can be coupled to certain events. This automatically activates active noise cancellation when music starts, for example, while an incoming call switches to transparency mode. There is also a freely configurable action button on the left earpiece, to which functions can be assigned using the Klipsch Connect app.
The battery life of the Klipsch T5 II True Wireless ANC
In terms of battery life, Klipsch promises up to 7 hours without, and around 5 hours with ANC enabled. The 76.9 gram metal charging case supplies the in-ears with juice three times, resulting in a total runtime of 28 and 20 hours with ANC, respectively.
The charging case can be charged via USB-C or wirelessly according to the Qi standard. The battery in the 5.5 gram earphones has a capacity of 50 mAh each, and 360 mAh in the charging case. An IPX4 certification as protection against splashing water is also on board.
Price and Availability
The market launch of the Klipsch T5 II True Wireless ANC takes place in Europe in September 2021. The manufacturer’s recommended retail price is € 349.00. The colors Gunmetal, Silver and Copper are available for selection. Included in the package are six pairs of oval silicone earmolds at once.
Alternatively, there is also a T5 II True Wireless ANC McLaren Edition to choose from, with an MSRP of €439.00. It is characterized primarily by a black-orange carbon design and the jacket in the racing look of the charging case. However, the included wireless charging pad with two charging coils, which allows charging the smartphone and headphones at the same time, especially justifies the surcharge.
