Mercedes-AMG EQE: E-car with all-wheel drive and 505 kW power output

With the Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 4MATIC and EQE 53 4MATIC+, the carmaker’s subsidiary responsible for high-performance vehicles is taking on the EQS electric car and relaunching the business sedan in two variants. The top model is equipped with all-wheel drive and 505 kW (687 hp) of power.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS will be joined by two more powerful sibling models, which Mercedes-AMG has christened the EQE. The EQE 43 4MATIC marks the entry into Mercedes-AMG’s electric Driving Performance. The EQE 53 4MATIC+, on the other hand, focuses on even more sportiness and greater driving dynamics.

Both new Mercedes-AMG EQE models offer a performance-oriented drive concept comprising two electric motors. The high-performance electric drivetrain (eATS), with one motor each on the front and rear axles, also offers a fully variable all-wheel drive system that optimally delivers the drive power to the asphalt under all driving conditions.

With the Dynamic Plus package, the AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+ delivers 505 kW (687 hp) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. Without the package, 460 kW (626 hp) and acceleration in 3.5 seconds are achieved.

The weaker AMG EQE 43 4MATIC model boasts 350 kW (476 hp) and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. The top speed of 210 km/h is slightly below that of the 53 4MATIC+ (220 km/h or 240 km/h with Dynamic Plus).

Up to 533 km range

Mercedes-Benz had officially unveiled the EQE at the IAA in September 2021. The somewhat slimmed-down variant of the luxury sedan EQS comes in the previously announced model to a range of about 660 kilometers.

The new Mercedes-AMG EQE models are equipped with a powerful 328-volt high-performance drive battery. It has a usable energy content of 90.6 kWh and consists of ten modules with a total of 360 pouch cells. The energy storage system can charge with up to 170 kW at fast charging stations with direct current and optionally with up to 22 kW alternating current.

However, due to the higher weight of the AMG models and the additional power, the range turns out to be somewhat lower. The automaker puts the preliminary figures at up to 518 km for the Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 4MATIC and 533 km in the case of the Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+. The range figures are provisional and were determined internally in accordance with the “WLTP test procedure” certification method.

Both Mercedes-AMG EQE models come with a curb weight of 2,525 kg and dimensions of 4,964 x 1,906 x 1,492 mm (length x width x height). The trunk capacity of 430 liters is also identical. It is currently unclear when the luxury electric cars will be launched and what the prices will be. You can find all the details in the announcement from Mercedes-Benz.
