Microsoft Office 2024 presented: New edition of Word, Excel and more without price increase

Microsoft is giving our favorite Office suite for Word, Excel and more a makeover this year. Like the 2021 version, Microsoft Office 2024 comes without any subscription obligation and brings some improvements. However, AI and cloud functions are reserved for the Microsoft 365 subscription version.

Microsoft Office 2024 announced

Microsoft has revealed in a blog post that its own Office suite will finally be getting a new edition this year. Microsoft Office 2024 is the successor to Office 2021 and will be offered alongside the Microsoft 365 subscription model.

The new Office will initially be launched in April as a Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) version, which is primarily aimed at companies and public authorities. However, Office 2024 will also be offered to private users over the course of the year.

According to Microsoft, the most important new features include new options for creating meetings, an improved search function, new Excel features and functions as well as improvements in the areas of performance, security and accessibility.

Office 2024 includes the following programs:

• Microsoft Word
• Microsoft Excel
• Microsoft Access
• Microsoft Outlook
• Microsoft PowerPoint
• Microsoft OneNote

Microsoft Teams, OneDrive cloud storage and the AI assistant Co-Pilot are not included. These are still only available for Microsoft 365 subscribers, although the new Office version, like its predecessor, will be supplied with updates for five years.

Microsoft Office 2024 supports Windows 10 and Windows 11, as well as 32-bit and 64-bit processors. According to the manufacturer, there will also be a dedicated Mac version of the suite.

Microsoft Office 2024 price will not change

According to the Redmond-based company, there will be no price increase for Microsoft Office 2024 compared to the 2021 version. Accordingly, Office 2024 Home & Student should start at a price of 149 euros, while the Home & Business version will be priced at 299 euros. The Professional model will then start at 579 euros. Microsoft did not give a specific release date.
