Sennheiser RS 5200: New headphones for an individual TV listening experience

Sennheiser has introduced an exciting new headphone, the RS 5200. It is said to impress with excellent TV sound, digital wireless transmission and particularly easy use, and offers individually personalizable sound options.

Unusual design

The Sennheiser RS 5200 relies on a rather unusual design. For example, the wireless headphones with chin-bar design rest on a base station. The temple guide under the face is primarily intended to minimize pressure on the ears, while the chin bar of the RS 5200 does not press on the temples and also offers wearers of glasses a high level of comfort and optimal TV sound.

For a perfect fit, you can also choose from four different ear pad variants, including silicone adapters in sizes S and L. The adapters made of memory foam adapt to the ear and provide better noise isolation. Alternatively, foam pads that are kept open are also included, allowing more ambient noise to pass through.

The RS 5200 makes it easy to adjust TV sound to your own preferences: The speech intelligibility function reduces distracting background noise at the touch of a button – dialogues in movies or TV shows are supposed to sound more transparent and be easier to understand.

There are three different listening profiles to choose from, each highlighting different frequency ranges. To enable an individually suitable sound balance, the RS 5200 also offers independent volume control for the left and right sides, which is automatically saved in the user’s own hearing profile.

70 meter range

Thanks to digital wireless transmission between the RS 5200 and base station, the TV experience is not compromised by headphone cables. Thus, according to the manufacturer, you can move up to 70 meters away from the transmitter unit and move freely around the room.

Setup and everyday use of the system are convenient and simple. The elegant base station can be connected to the TV either digitally (optical) or analog. The receiver’s built-in battery provides up to twelve hours of playback time for uninterrupted TV enjoyment and is automatically charged when inserted into the base station. An audible notification follows when the battery is low, while the RS 5200 automatically turns off when no longer in use.

At the same time, the headphones cover a frequency band of 15 Hz – 16,000 Hz and weigh around 61 grams. All necessary and optional cables are included directly in the package.

Price and Availability

The Sennheiser RS 5200 is available now for an MSRP of 249.99 euros in stores. Amazon lists the wireless headphones for 239.03 euros.
