Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless: New in-ear headphones unveiled

With the Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless, the manufacturer has introduced a new pair of in-ear headphones that – as the name suggests – are also supposed to score points in active use. Thanks to unique Adaptable Acoustic function, the ear tips can be replaced by different open and closed variants.

Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless in detail

In terms of design, the new Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless are reminiscent of the already familiar CX Plus True Wireless model (our review). However, the most striking visual innovation are the earwings (called: ear fins) on the top, which are supposed to provide a secure hold during sports or fast movements.

In addition, the wearing comfort and fit can be individually adjusted. Ear adapters in three different sizes and ear fins in four designs are included directly in the scope of delivery. Thanks to the new Adaptable Acoustic function, there is also a choice between open and closed ear adapters, while the sound of the TWS in-ears can also be adjusted accordingly with the help of corresponding EQ settings.

The open ear adapters in combination with the Aware EQ settings allow additional external noise to pass through and thus provide additional safety when jogging or exercising. Your own heartbeat or steps, on the other hand, are reduced, while traffic noises or sirens are amplified.

On the other hand, the combination of closed ear tips and the Focus EQ setting allows for almost complete sealing from outside noise. On the other hand, the SPORT True Wireless do not offer true active noise cancellation (ANC). In return, there is an IP54 certification, thanks to which the headphones are protected against dust and splash water.

Technology and battery life

Sonically, the Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless rely on dynamic, 7 mm drivers together with the Sennheiser TrueResponse transducer. A combination that we also already know from the CX Plus of the manufacturer. This should once again provide a very good sound quality with a comparatively high frequency band of 5 Hz to 21,000 Hz.

The new wireless model communicates with various audio sources via Bluetooth 5.2 and also features Qualcomm aptX in addition to the standard SBC and AAC codecs. The in-ears are operated using touch inputs, while features such as audio navigation or voice assistants are also available.

With the help of the Sennheiser Smart Control app, operation and sound can also be highly customized. The Sound Check function included in it allows for individual adjustment. According to the manufacturer, the battery life is 27 hours in total, which is divided into 9 hours of Earbuds runtime and another 18 hours in combination with the charging case. Charging is via USB Type-C.

Price and Availability

The Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless is available for pre-order now directly from the manufacturer and should be available in stores on May 03, 2022. The manufacturer’s RRP is 129.90 euros.
