X: Talk show on short message service canceled after premiere

The short message service X actually wanted to produce its own in-house talk show and brought in celebrity support specifically for this purpose. However, X boss Elon Musk did not like the whole thing. The show has now been canceled after just one episode.

Premiere with Elon Musk as a guest

X had big plans for the talk show format “The Don Lemon Show”. After all, the short message service is apparently planning to increasingly focus on moving image content. But as euphoric as the show, produced with ex-CNN presenter Don Lemon, was announced, it now seems to have fallen flat. Apparently, Elon Musk did not like the premiere at all. Of course, he didn’t miss it and was directly on hand as an interviewee in the first episode. However, things probably went differently than hoped. The tech billionaire was exposed to some biting questions. From his point of view at least.

The consequences could hardly be harsher. X has now officially announced that it will “not enter into a commercial partnership with the show”. However, this does not mean that the project has been completely scrapped. X has merely withdrawn from the production partnership. This means that you will still be able to watch the interview format on the short message service in the future. Don Lemon interviews public figures for just under half an hour. However, it is safe to assume that Musk will not miss out on the odd biting remark in the commentary section.

Don Lemon regrets X’s behavior

Now, of course, the question arises as to how it could have come to this. Nowadays, questions in interview formats are usually discussed with the guest in advance. According to the talk show host, however, this did not happen in this case. Lemon himself states that there were no restrictions on the choice of questions in advance. From his point of view, there were no questions that were too unpleasant or even below the belt. Rather, he asked questions about topics that could be of interest to the general public. The conversation was always respectful throughout the 30 minutes.

However, the Tesla boss still owes the talk show host a real explanation. And this is a major point of criticism from Lemon. After all, he is apparently still puzzling over why the show was canceled at the drop of a hat. He also reminds us once again that Musk had actually pledged to ensure maximum freedom of expression on the platform when he took over Twitter in October 2022. From Lemon’s point of view, the head of X was probably just “angry” with him.
