Scope of delivery

ANNKE ships the 4K webcam in a sleek, black cardboard box. According to the manufacturer, the camera costs 149.99 euros, so we would have expected better packaging. Not more elaborate, rather better materials and not the cheapest cardboard box found. On the bottom of the box is a white sticker with the specifications and on the front is a picture of the WX810 webcam.

Inside we find nothing more than the camera, a short manual and a connection cable of sufficient length. The WX810 is connected via USB-C. Should you not need the webcam, you can also charge your cell phone this way.

Design and workmanship

The ANNKE WX810 is an elongated, rectangular camera. Its simple build and slim design make it not that noticeable no matter where it is placed. On the front, very present is the lens. With 25 mm height and 120 mm width, the webcam is quite wide, but the technology has to find its place somewhere.

On the front, we find the two microphones and a status LED next to the lens. The latter lights up as soon as the webcam is used. Only the USB-C port is found on the back.

The weight is almost exclusively due to the camera. The holder cannot convince in terms of quality. It does hold the camera in position, but the haptics clearly show where savings have been made.

Otherwise, the price actually speaks other volumes. Since around 140 euros is put on the table, the camera as well as the holder is completely made of plastic. The anti-slip pads do their job, but one came right off when the protective film was pulled off.

Image and sound quality

In terms of workmanship and looks, everything can be right, but as soon as the quality of the image is not right, a webcam is no longer usable. However, the WX810 from ANNKE can convince us here. Not only does it have a very wide viewing angle, but it can also handle just about any environment very well.

Even in low light, the WX810 adapts and tries to get the best out of the picture – all automatically. A dark foreground with bright lights in the background makes for annoying noise in the image with most webcams. The camera has problems focusing on objects that are close to the lens in these lighting conditions, and there is also clear noise.

In good lighting conditions, the automatic works even much better and we then also get to enjoy the macro autofocus. Within just 0.7 seconds, the camera is supposed to be able to change its focus on people or moving objects in the picture. The better the lighting conditions, the better the focus works.

The sound quality of the WX810, on the other hand, is not convincing. Despite the noise cancellation, every little noise near the webcam is still recorded. For a meeting of listeners and saying a few sentences, the webcam is sufficient. If you are the main speaker, it is better to use a dedicated microphone.

Summary of the ANNKE WX810 4MP Webcam

With the ANNKE WX810 webcam, we are in the higher-priced segment at 140 euros. Directly positive to note is the good image quality in good lighting conditions. Especially the macro autofocus touted by the manufacturer works flawlessly. If the room is poorly lit or there are only light sources in the background, the picture starts to noise and the autofocus does not work properly anymore, or a few seconds can pass.

The built-in microphone failed completely. For this price, the sound quality is in no way adequate. The noise cancellation doesn’t work at all, and every noise is recorded. Almost every microphone of a headset offers better sound quality than the ANNKE WX810 webcam.

In conclusion, we can say that the ANNKE WX810 webcam provides a very good camera image, even though it has its weaknesses. The difference between the image and sound quality is so massive that you should consider buying the camera for real.

85/100

Decent picture quality with a wide angle. However, the audio quality is off-putting.
