Amazon introduces new Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Lite

On Thursday, Amazon introduced the new generation of Fire TV Stick, a new Fire TV Stick Lite and a completely redesigned and personalized Fire TV experience.

Fire TV Stick

The new Fire TV Stick from Amazon is now equipped with a 1.7 GHz quad-core processor. This processor makes the stick 50 percent more powerful than previous generations of the stick. Thus the Fire TV Stick delivers faster streaming in 1080p at 60 frames per second and HDR compatibility. With a dual-band and dual-antenna WLAN module, the stick ensures fewer connection interruptions and a more stable streaming experience by supporting 5 GHz networks. Dolby Atmos is also supported by the Fire TV Stick. This ensures immersive sound with matching content and speakers. Despite the improved performance, the new Fire TV Stick consumes 50 percent less power than its predecessor versions. The new stick is available for 38.98 euros.

Fire TV Stick Lite

The Fire TV Stick Lite supports HDR and, like the Fire TV Stick, is 50 percent more powerful than previous versions. It provides a more cost-effective entry into Full-HD streaming. The Fire TV Stick Lite is available for 29.23 Euro.

Fire TV experience

The interface of Fire TV has been designed to be simpler, more individual and more intuitive. The main menu is now in the middle of the user interface to allow the user to directly control the desired streaming service. The new search function makes it easier to discover series and movies. The search function offers a broad and specific search by categories, genre and much more.

The center of the Fire TV experience is Alexa. Alexa provides extensive control over the entertainment program and improved voice control. Change user profile, go to the media library or go to the live channel list with simple voice commands.
With the new user profiles, up to six people in a household can be added.

With the special Alexa section, users can display features such as weather or stock quotes directly on their Fire TV interface. In the future, compatible, already connected smart home devices can be integrated and controlled via this. After the update, the Fire TV Cube will also support video calls to Alexa contacts if a compatible webcam is connected. The Alexa video calls should be available later this year.

The new Fire TV interface will be rolled out later this year.

The new Fire TV Stick and the Fire TV Stick Lite can be ordered now. The new sticks will be available from September 28, 2020, when they will also be available at Saturn and Media Markt.
