Apple MacBook Pro 16 inch Introduced

The new Apple MacBook Pro 16″ display will replace the previous 15.4″ models. The resolution is 3,072 x 1,920 pixels (226 ppi) and the screen is calibrated by default to primary colors, gamma, and white dots, making it particularly attractive to designers, photographers, and other creative users.

Depending on the configuration, the following Intel processors are available:

  • Core i7 – 6 cores – 2.6 GHz clock and 4.5 GHz Turbo
  • Core i9 – 8 cores – 2.3 GHz clock and 4.8 GHz turbo
  • Core i9 – 8 cores – 2.4 GHz clock and 5.0 GHz turbo

The smallest version of the RAM offers 16 GB capacity, 32 or 64 GB are available at an extra charge. The 512 GB standard SSD can also be expanded up to 8 TB.  The AMD Radeon Pro 5300M (4 GB) and 5500M (8 GB) from the 7 nm Navi model series are available as graphics solutions. According to Apple, the 100Wh battery will power the latest MacBook Pro notebook one hour longer than its 15-inch predecessor. Unfortunately, the SSD or RAM cannot be retrofitted by the customer.

Due to the numerous defects, Apple no longer uses the butterfly mechanism on the keyboard. Instead, the proven scissor mechanism with a stroke of one millimeter is used again. The touch bar, the fingerprint sensor Touch ID and the trackpad have not been updated. Only the escape key has moved from the touch bar back to the keyboard as a physical key.

The basic version of the notebook (Core i7, 512 GB SSD, 16 GB RAM, AMD Radeon Pro 5300M) costs 2,700 euros in Germany and is therefore not more expensive than its 15.4-inch predecessor. In the best possible configuration, the MacBook Pro 16 inch costs almost 7,200 Euro in Germany without additional software.
