Asus has introduced two new notebooks that not only come with promising technical features. They are also supposed to invite mobile use with their colorful and compact design. We take a closer look at the Vivobook S15 and S14.
Great colors and contrasts thanks to OLED
A technical highlight of the two new Vivobooks is undoubtedly the OLED panel that Asus installs. The displays with a resolution of 2.8K are supposed to offer great colors, contrasts of 1,000,000:1 and a brightness of up to 600 nits. Content creators and other creative professionals will also be happy about the 100 percent coverage of the DCI P3 color space.
Furthermore, manufacturer Asus emphasizes the eye-friendly image reproduction of the OLEDs in the Vivobook S15 and S14. Among other things, TÜV Rheinland certified the reduction of blue light. The larger Vivobook S15 with a screen diagonal of 15 inches benefits from 120 Hz for moving pictures. The slightly smaller Vivobook S14 offers 90 Hz.
Trimmed for mobile use
Asus obviously wants to combine mobility with performance in the two new Vivobooks. Thus, you can select an Intel Core i7 12700H processor in the S15’s top configuration. Alternatively, you can also choose the powerful AMD counterpart in the form of the Ryzen 7 6800H. The CPU is supported by up to 16 GB of RAM. Users who opt for an Intel CPU benefit from a maximum memory capacity of 1 TB. AMD only offers 512 GB.
The Vivobook S14 is a bit weaker, but by no means less stylish. Here, the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H and 16 GB of RAM are available in the maximum configuration. Surprisingly, 1 TB of storage is supposed to be possible even with an AMD CPU. The practical size and the flexible hinge, which can be bent up to 180 degrees, make it clear that Asus insists on mobile use here.
No matter whether university, school or work – these notebooks obviously want to be taken along in the backpack. This becomes clear in the thickness of just 18.9 mm as well as a weight of 1.5 kg for the Vivobook S14 and 1.8 kg for the Vivobook S15. The features are rounded off by a webcam including a matching cover and a keyboard that is not only supposed to offer a great typing experience. On top of that, it comes with an antibacterial coating.
Also suitable for entertainment
However, the two notebooks are not only supposed to be suitable for work-hungry use. They also have the best prerequisites for entertainment. Thus, Asus installs a high-quality sound system from Harman/Kardon here.
Thanks to AI Noise Canelling, the Vivobook S15 and S14 also offer the best conditions for the next Skype or Zoom call. The lush features are rounded off with extensive connectivity. Modern standards like WiFi 6E and USB-C ports including fast charging are on board here.
