Bluetti EP500: Kickstarter project now officially available

With the help of the Bluetti EP500, you shouldn’t have to worry about the consequences of a power outage anymore. After all, this is a battery that allows you to be self-sufficient from the power supply. Both the normal and the Pro version offer 5,100 watt hours of battery power, which is far from common power banks. This is more of a real emergency power generator. In the Pro version, even a continuous power of 3,000 watts is supposed to be possible. Let’s take a closer look at the Kickstarter project.

Revolutionary emergency power supply?

When you think of emergency power generators, a stinking diesel tank certainly quickly floats in front of your mind’s eye. That’s probably how the clever minds behind Bluetti EP500 felt. Accordingly, they want to revolutionize nothing less than the energy storage system for private households. This is an extremely smart idea, especially in the age of renewable energies. After all, at least in theory, everyone can provide their own power supply these days. The easiest way to do this is with solar panels. But here you often face a big problem. Since the vast majority of people are at work during the day, the energy absorbed by the panels cannot be converted directly into electricity. It is simply lost. But there is a solution to this problem – suitable energy storage devices.

The EP500 series comes in standard and Pro versions. These differ greatly from each other in their performance.

However, these are still rare on the market. If you take a look around, you will find suitable storage options with manufacturers like “Powerball” or “SonnenCore”, but these are nothing for the “small user” due to their gigantic capacity. Bluetti now wants to score in this segment. With the EP500, the start-up offers a storage solution with a capacity of 5.1 kWh. This comparatively low capacity in the field of storage solutions for solar energy brings with it a decisive advantage. The EP500 is extremely convenient. With its four easy-rolling transport wheels, the EP500 is absolutely user-friendly. Mounting on a wall or in the garage, as is the case with large solar batteries, is not necessary here. Instead, you simply roll the solar storage tank with a total weight of 30 kg to the place where it is needed.

Fast charging is no problem

The EP500 is designed to meet the essential needs of power outages. The monstrous 2000-watt inverter has been designed with pure sine wave features and can drive up to 4800W. The Pro version is said to be capable of 3000 W continuous power. Both versions are equipped with 5100 Wh. These are based on extremely durable and safe LiFePO4 battery cells (up to 6,000 charge cycles). According to its own statements, the Bluetti team wants to contribute to building an environmentally friendly future with renewable energies. Above all, the company wants to put an end to antique gasoline generators with its new product. After all, these not only emit toxic fumes, but also make a deafening noise.

At the heart of the EP500 is an advanced MPPT solar inverter. This creates 1,200 watts in the standard version and 2,400 watts in the Pro version. This is said to be able to fully charge the 5.1 kWh battery in a time of under 5 hours in the standard version and even in half the time in the Pro version. With the help of the latest portable 200 W solar panel Bluetti SP200 you should be able to use solar energy at full speed everywhere. Especially when camping or otherwise going on an outdoor vacation, this can prove to be extremely handy. But the EP500 should not only be charged with solar energy. The mobile energy storage unit allows you to charge the battery with both solar energy and alternating current at the same time. So the battery can be charged in a flash.

Price and Availability

Manufacturer Bluetti has promised its backers to start shipping the EP500 series in June. However, those who want the Pro version will have to be patient until August. To keep the long wait from getting too much of a headache, the manufacturer promises its backers a three-year warranty and lifetime technical support for EP500 and EP500 Pro. The starting price for an EP500 (Super Early Bird Perk) is $2,799.
