Elgato expands Stream Deck+ : XLR dock and USB hub

Elgato, known for its high-quality streaming products, has recently introduced two innovative hardware extensions for the Stream Deck controller: the XLR Dock and the USB Hub. These new additions are designed to optimize the workspace of creators, streamers and podcasters by both saving space and expanding functionality. In this article you will learn what these new products offer and how they can improve your setup.

XLR dock and USB hub: the most important features at a glance

  • XLR do ck: Compact microphone interface that supports dynamic and condenser microphones.
  • USB hub: Additional connections for peripheral devices and external drives, including SD card reader.
  • Space-saving: Both extensions fit directly behind the Stream Deck .
  • Easy installation: Plug-and-play without additional drivers or software.

XLR dock: Maximum audio quality in the smallest of spaces

The XLR dock is a microphone interface that has been specially developed for the Stream Deck+. It allows high-quality XLR microphones to be connected directly to the Stream Deck, saving valuable desk space. The integrated preamplifier offers extremely low-noise amplification of up to 75 dB for dynamic microphones. In addition, the 48 V phantom power supply ensures that condenser microphones can also be operated optimally.

Elgato’s innovative Clipguard technology protects against clipping and distortion, even if the volume level rises unexpectedly. This ensures clear and crisp sound at all times, whether for voice recordings, podcasts or live streams. All audio devices can be powered via a single USB cable, making setup much easier.

A particular highlight of the XLR dock is the seamless integration with the Stream Deck . All audio settings, both hardware and software (e.g. Spotify or Discord), can be controlled via the Stream Deck. This flexibility makes the XLR dock the ultimate audio station for creative professionals.

The technical specifications are largely identical to those of the Wave XLR audio interface from Elgato, although this allows a sampling rate of 96 kHz, whereas the XLR dock offers a maximum of 48 kHz.

USB hub: More connections for an extended setup

For many content creators, the lack of USB ports is a well-known problem, especially when using laptops. The new USB hub from Elgato provides a remedy. It offers up to four additional USB ports and enables fast data transfer at up to 5 Gbit/s via USB-C. A practical SD card reader is also integrated, making it easier to transfer data from memory cards.

Another plus is the ability to place the USB hub out of sight to avoid cable clutter and keep the workspace tidy. All connections are still easily accessible as they are located directly behind the Stream Deck. Installation is straightforward and requires no additional drivers or software.
