Beelink has introduced an exciting port expansion with the Expand M docking station, which should be especially interesting for users of compact notebooks. In addition to a quite lush selection of connectivity options, an SSD in M.2 2280 format can be installed.
Docking station with SSD slot
Usually, docking stations expand the port selection of a computer or notebook with additional ports. Modern and compact notebooks in particular only have a few ports due to their design, which sometimes makes the use of a docking station unavoidable.
However, the Beelink Expand M goes one step further and also offers the option of installing an SSD hard drive with an M.2 2280 form factor. It is connected via the third generation SATA transfer protocol and offers a maximum data transfer rate of around 440 Mbyte/s according to the manufacturer.
A maximum capacity of 4 terabytes is supported. If desired, the built-in SSD can also be turned off at the push of a button to reduce the power consumption of the USB Type-C docking station.
Good space
The Beelink Expand M docking station is also well positioned away from the SSD slot. For example, a USB-C port including Power Delivery with up to 100 watts is available, which can charge connected devices.
The docking station also has an HDMI port that supports 4K output, including DP Alt mode, and two USB-A 3.0 ports with a maximum speed of 107 Mbyte/s. The Expand M measures 115.3 x 39.3 millimeters and is 11 millimeters thick. The docking station is connected using a bendable, rubber-coated USB-C cable (length: 121.4 mm). The manufacturer promises full compatibility with Android, Windows 10 and 11, and Mac OS.
Prices and Availability
The Beelink Expand M docking station is now available for pre-order on the manufacturer’s website. Without the SSD installed, the MSRP is the equivalent of 35.34 euros. Alternatively, an order in connection with an installed SSD with 128 GB (55.53 Euros), 256 GB (65.63 Euros) or 512 GB (89.18 Euros) capacity is possible.
