Galaxus can no longer call itself the “most honest online store”

There are plenty of online stores in this country. So it’s not easy to stand out as the right one. Galaxus tried the whole thing with the slogan “Germany’s most honest online store”. But that has now come to an end. As a result of a court case, the company will refrain from using this title from now on.

Galaxus reaches settlement in court

Galaxus has a number of unique selling points that set it apart from the competition. One of the most important features is certainly the display of return and warranty rates, which the company introduced just over a year ago. Here, customers can see how often a product has been returned or how often the warranty has been used. This is a great way to get a sense of quality and longevity.

With this and other customer-friendly functions, the online store felt compelled to call itself “Germany’s most honest online store”. This designation will no longer be possible from May 1, 2024. This decision was preceded by court proceedings in which Galaxus was sued by the Wettbewerbszentrale association. From the association’s point of view, the designation is simply exaggerated and an exaggeration. Galaxus recognized this and reached a settlement with the plaintiff.

Nevertheless, an honest online store

It is not only the transparency in terms of return and warranty rates that makes Galaxus popular with consumer advocates. On top of this, the company even tests the products itself before they are offered. The online store also does not prioritize items as a result of payment by the manufacturer. As this is anything but usual, one can certainly feel moved to describe the provider as the most honest store.

This is also the view of the judge who mediated in the case. From his point of view, there are certainly “veritable arguments” that reinforce the slogan. However, the superlative is problematic here too. How are you supposed to prove that you are the most honest store? This is simply an impossibility. Galaxus itself vehemently emphasized that the superlative was simply an exaggeration and that the whole thing was not meant seriously. Let’s see what slogan the retailer comes up with next.
