Gigabyte M28U – new gaming monitor with UHD at 144 Hz

After the introduction of the new gaming monitors under the Aorus brand, there is now another monitor for gamers from Gigabyte. The 28-incher resolves in Ultra HD and has a refresh rate of 144 Hz.

Short response and high pixel density

The Gigabyte gaming monitor comes with a short response time of 1 ms (GtG). The IPS panel has 3,840 × 2,160 pixels and thus comes to a pixel density of 157 ppi. The refresh rate of the M28U is up to 144 Hz in native resolution. Game consoles can be connected via HDMI 2.1, which then allows the user up to 120 hertz. When changing grayscale, the monitor’s response time is 1 ms and 2 ms for Moving Picture Response Time (MPRT).

To prevent image tearing, the refresh rate can be synchronized with any of Radeon’s graphics cards via FreeSync Premium Pro based on Adaptive Sync. The display uses a color depth of 8 bits for this. The M28U can also display 94 percent of the DCI-P3 color space.

DisplayHDR 400 certified

The common brightness for monitors is currently up to 300 cd/m², but since the Gigabyte M28U monitor is DisplayHDR 400 certified, the selective brightness here will be at least 400 cd/m². Aside from the two HDMI 2.1 jacks and a USB-C port, the gaming monitor has a DisplayPort 1.4, three USB 3.0 A ports, and a headphone jack. Last but not least, stereo speakers are also integrated into the M28U. In addition, the monitor offers a KVM function, with which the peripherals (mouse, keyboard,…) can be used on two PCs. The KVM button can be switched between the different devices in a flash.

Simplicity in design

Gigabyte’s design philosophy is based on simplicity, so the M28U has a streamlined appearance and a matte finish. The monitor’s stand is both sturdy and functional. The ergonomically designed stand offers extensive height and tilt adjustment options. The stand can be easily exchanged via VESA mount and brings along a height adjustment of up to 130 mm as well as a tilt of -5 ° to around + 20 °.

Availability and pricing

No release date or price has been announced yet for the new Gigabyte M28U gaming monitor.
