GM Wuling Bingo: electric car at a bargain price

Even advocates of the classic combustion engine should have realized by now that electric cars are the future. However, many still decide against all-electric models because the prices are sometimes far too high. The GM Wuling Bingo wants to stand out from the crowd here. The compact electric car is said to cost just under 7,300 euros.

GM Wuling Bingo comes in a small format

The trend is towards large-format e-SUVs. This is a thorn in the side of traffic experts in view of increasingly crowded city centers. It is not without reason that they are calling on car manufacturers to design more smaller cars. General Motors has apparently listened and wants to find a niche for itself with the GM Wuling Bingo.

However, the potential for success on the market is not only guaranteed by the pleasingly compact design with dimensions of 3,950 x 1,708 x 1,580 mm. The astonishingly low price of the equivalent of 7,300 euros should also hit the Chinese car market like a bomb.

Optional long range

The GM Wuling Bingo could become a real problem for BYD in particular. After all, the battery and e-car giant currently has one of the cheapest models on the market with the Seagull. However, at just under 9,100 euros, the Seagull is significantly more expensive.

The entry-level version of the GM Wuling Bingo offers a range of 203 km. If you opt for the middle of the three versions, you will have to pay considerably more at the equivalent of 9,200 euros, but you will also get a range of 334 km. In the top version, the range even increases to 410 km. However, the GM Wuling Bingo then also costs just under 11,000 euros.

While the three equipment lines differ in terms of range, they are identical in terms of charging technology. This is not a matter of course and was not the case with the predecessor. All three should be able to be charged via direct current at a fast charger. According to the manufacturer, the battery level should rise from 30 to 80 percent after a charging time of just under 35 minutes.

Despite its mini body, the small electric runabout should offer respectable interior space. A total of 1,240 liters of storage space should be possible with the seats folded down. The cockpit is also impressive. The GM Wuling Bingo has a double screen with a total screen size of 10.25 inches.

Price and availability

If you live in China, you can already buy the GM Wuling Bingo now. More information can be found on the official website. However, it remains to be seen whether the vehicle will also be launched in our climes. Should this be the case, a significantly higher price will have to be expected in this country. This is not only due to EU customs regulations. The manufacturer will certainly also have to make some adjustments to make the vehicle EU-compatible.
