GPD P2 Max 2022: Compact convertible introduced

With the GPD P2 Max 2022, the manufacturer has introduced a new convertible notebook that combines the worlds of laptop and tablet in a particularly small case. According to the manufacturer, it is the “smallest ultrabook in the world”.

That stretches in the GPD P2 Max 2022

With small dimensions of only 14.95 x 21.3 centimeters and a maximum thickness of 1.42 centimeters with a weight of around 650 grams, the GPD P2 Max 2022 convertible is ideal for mobile use, combining a notebook with a tablet.

GPD relies on an Intel Pentium Silver N6000 processor with two cores that can run up to four threads simultaneously thanks to Hyperthreading. There are also 16 gigabytes of working memory and a 1 terabyte M.2 NVMe SSD. Cooling is supposed to be realized via a heat pipe and an active fan.

For the display, the GPD P2 Max 2022 relies on an 8.9-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels (WQXGA) in a 16:10 aspect ratio, while the screen-to-body ratio is 80.9 percent, according to the manufacturer.

Touch display and connectivity

The display is operated either via touch control, where up to 10 touches can be registered simultaneously, or with the help of a stylus. There is also a fingerprint scanner above the QWERTY keyboard that can be used for unlocking. The convertible boots from a deactivated state in 7.3 seconds and is ready for use.

In terms of ports, two USB 3.2 ports in Type A format, as well as USB Type-C and a 3.5 millimeter jack are available alongside a microHDMI port. A microphone is already integrated.

The P2 Max 2022 can be charged via USB Power Delivery 2.0 with a charging power of up to 30 watts, and the battery capacity is 9200mAh, which should allow the convertible to achieve around 8 hours of video playback. There’s also a 2.4G / 5G dual-band Wi-fi 6 chip that enables fast wireless network speeds.

Price and Availability

The manufacturer has not yet named a price for the GPD P2 Max 2022 Convertible. However, the device will soon be available for direct import for customers from Europe.
