Kingston KC3000 SSD: High-end PCIe 4.0 SSD launched

The Kingston KC3000 is the next manufacturer to jump on the bandwagon of fast SSDs with PCIe 4.0 connectivity. It uses the M.2 form factor, a Phison E18 controller and TLC NAND to achieve speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s and 1 million IOPS.

Kingston KC3000 Gets Fast

With the KC3000, Kingston finally launches the successor of the popular KC2500 SSD and finally relies on PCIe 4.0, which results in a doubling of the data throughput rate. The KC3000 achieves speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s for reading and writing.

These values are at least valid for the 2 TB or 4 TB variants. The 1 TB model still achieves 7,000/6,000 MB/s and the smallest model with 512 GB still 7,000/3,900 MB/s in sequential read/write. The values of one million IOPS in random reading and writing of 4K data also only apply to the top model.

Thus, Kingston finally returns to the top class in the SSD segment. However, the power consumption of up to 10.2 watts in the case of the 4 TB model also makes cooling necessary. Here, the KC3000 relies on a thin strip of graphene.

Whether this cooling solution can withstand the enormous load in the long run remains to be seen. After all, the manufacturer offers a 5-year warranty on the SSD hard drive. The specified write volumes (in Total Bytes Written) are 400 TB, 800 TB, 1,600 TB as well as 3,200 TB.

Prices and Availability

The Kingston KC3000 NVMe SSD is officially available in stores since October 25, but currently not yet available. It starts at a price of 199.99 euros for the 512 GB variant, while the top model with 4 TB capacity is 1,054.00 euros.
