Mercedes Benz: classic racing game soon playable in a car

Mercedes Benz has an exciting cooperation to announce. Together with tech giant Tencent and games publisher EA, the car manufacturer wants to bring gaming into the vehicle. The choice of games could hardly be more fitting. You will soon be able to play Need for Speed in the selected cars. It makes you really look forward to the next forced break at the charging station.

Gaming soon possible in Mercedes Benz cars

Anyone who has ever driven a Tesla or even owns a model from the US manufacturer will certainly have already taken a close look at the gaming features of the electric car. This is because it is possible to enjoy real gaming sessions. One of the most popular applications is a racing game in which you use the Tesla’s steering wheel as a steering unit for the virtual car. But what Tesla can do, Mercedes Benz has been able to do for a long time?

At least the traditional German manufacturer has now unveiled an exciting new feature. The company announced Need for Speed Mobile at the Auto China 2024 motor show. The project was launched together with Tencent and EA. Every vehicle that has at least third-generation MBUX on board should make the promising gaming experience possible.

NFS Mobile runs on the display of the vehicle itself. The whole thing should be a real eye-catcher, especially for owners of a hyperscreen. A Bluetooth controller is to serve as the control unit. Unfortunately, there is one fly in the ointment. The new feature will initially only be available in China.

Presentation at Auto China 2024

Even people who are only remotely familiar with gaming will have heard of Need for Speed at least once. After all, it’s not just possibly the best-known racing game brand. What’s more, the game series has now been around for over 30 years. Drivers of a suitable model from the Mercedes Benz line-up are therefore likely to be delighted.

The manufacturer plans to make Need For Speed Mobile available this year. It will be a classic over-the-air update that can simply be downloaded to the infotainment system. According to the car manufacturer, the game will of course not only remain available on the Chinese market. A release is also to follow in other countries. However, it is not yet clear when this will be.
