MSI SPATIUM M480 PRO: New performance SSDs with blazing speeds

Named MSI SPATIUM M480 PRO, the manufacturer has unveiled a new range of performance SSDs that mark the flagship of the PCIe 4.0 product line and aim to score with blazing fast speeds.

The MSI SPATIUM M480 PRO series in detail

.
The MSI SPATIUM M480 PRO series SSDs are equipped with high-quality 3D NANOflash memory. Together with the PCIe 4.0 interface, speeds of up to 7400 MB/s in sequential read and 7000 MB/s in sequential write are made possible.

This is about the same level as the Samsung top model in the form of the 990 Pro. In addition, the manufacturer promises that up to 60 percent faster random read and write speeds should enable a low response time even under full load. Other performance-enhancing technologies include DRAM cache buffers and an SLC cache.

All SPATIUM M480 PRO series models support a comprehensive set of data error correction features, including LPDC ECC and E2E Data Protection, and offer a high TBW (Terabytes Written) rating for excellent durability and longevity, backed by a 5-year warranty.

The lineup here includes the SPATIUM M480 PRO HS, SPATIUM M480 PRO PLAY and SPATIUM M480 PRO models.

MSI SPATIUM M480 PRO HS

.
The HS model marks the flagship of the product line and comes with storage capacities of 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB. Compatibility with PCle Gen 4 and NVMe 1.4 standards enables transfer speeds of up to 7400 MB/s for sequential reads and 7000 MB/s for sequential writes.

The HS stands for “Heatsink” and refers to the bronze-colored aluminum heat sink, which is supposed to efficiently dissipate heat thanks to its fin structure. Under load, the temperature of the SSD is supposed to be reduced by up to 20 percent.

SPATIUM M480 PRO PLAY

The MSI SPATIUM M480 PRO PLAY comes with a more compact heatsink, making it suitable for use in the Sony PlayStation 5. It also comes with storage capacities of 1TB, 2TB and 4TB and can be quickly and easily installed in the console (and PC).

The SSD is designed to be able to load large game files quickly and efficiently. Again, speeds of 7,400 MB/s and 7,000 MB/s respectively are achieved. The double-surface aluminum heat sink efficiently dissipates heat.

The third in the bunch is the SPATIUM M480 PRO, which comes without an additional heatsink, but should still realize the same speeds. Capacities of 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB are also on the cards here.
