MWC 2024: Xiaomi SU7 e-car officially unveiled

Tech trade fairs have long since become the stage for the presentation of upcoming electric cars. Xiaomi used this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) to unveil its first electric car, the Xiaomi SU7. But if the Chinese tech company has its way, this is just the beginning.

Xiaomi SU7 is not just a guinea pig

If there is one thing Xiaomi cannot be accused of, it is having a product range that is too one-sided. After all, the Chinese tech manufacturer no longer just produces smartphones, robot vacuums and much more. Now the company also wants to conquer the automotive market. The MWC in Barcelona represents a real bang in this respect.

Xiaomi has not only taken this as an opportunity to give the world a glimpse of its first electric car. The company has also commented on the plans it has made in the field of electromobility for the coming years. And here it becomes clear that the Chinese are definitely convinced of the success of the Xiaomi SU7. In fact, the company plans to be one of the five largest car manufacturers in the world in 15 years’ time.

Technical data sounds very good

If you take a look at the features and technical data of the Xiaomi SU7, the company could well achieve its goal. Especially in the top version, the electric car scores with plenty of power. Xiaomi states a maximum speed of 265 km/h. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds should literally push the driver into the seat.

With a power output of 673 hp, these figures are of course anything but surprising. However, the maximum range stated by the manufacturer sounds really impressive. The car should be able to cover up to 800 km on a full charge. Even the data for the basic version sounds really good. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.28 seconds and a range of 668 km should be more than enough for the average consumer.

A few more question marks

The first glimpse of the sleek electric car is quite pleasing. However, the tech company has unfortunately left a few questions unanswered. For example, we don’t yet know what price range the sporty electric car will have. Xiaomi has also not given us a release date. However, fans of fast e-cars can still have a glimmer of hope. The tech company from China has stated that the car will be launched this year. However, this statement will most likely only apply to the Chinese market.
