New management team announced for IFA

There are 100 days to go until the next IFA – and Messe Berlin has appointed a new management team. David Ruetz and Kai Mangelberger replace Jens Heithecker and Dirk Koslowski with immediate effect.

Preparing for next IFA

After the pandemic-induced break, IFA will resume in 2022 in its usual style and scale. Martin Ecknig, managing director of Messe Berlin, would like to set the course for this already now. On the occasion of a press release, he spoke of high expectations for IFA and that preparations were already in full swing. As the “world’s most important trade show for consumer and home electronics,” IFA wants to appropriately usher in the new start in the industry, he said.

Years of trade show experience

The two new IFA directors can look back on many years of trade show experience and were accordingly presented by Messe Berlin as experienced players. David Ruetz most recently headed ITB Berlin, a leading travel industry trade show. He had held this position since 2002. According to Messe Berlin, during these twenty years he has made a significant contribution to developing ITB into one of the leading international travel trade shows and a global brand.

Kai Mangelberger can also look back on a long experience in management positions. As Deputy Director, for example, he oversaw the InnoTrans trade show, which is dedicated to rail and transport technology. Last year, he further managed FRUIT LOGISTICA, a fruit trade show.

IFA 2022, which will be managed for the first time by the new duo, will be held Sept. 2-6 in Berlin. The trade show is planned as a presence-only event – for the first time since the pandemic began.
