HTC plans to unveil new smartphone in mid-June

HTC was once considered a big player in the ranks of smartphone manufacturers. But in recent years, the company has gone quiet, at least in the smartphone sector. This is set to come to an end this month. A successor to the HTC U23 Pro will most likely be presented on June 12.

HTC back to its old strength with a new smartphone?

The planned presentation will most likely revolve around the HTC U24 Pro. After all, a successor to the U23 Pro is slowly but surely on the horizon. The manufacturer itself is still keeping a very low profile. All we know is that the presentation of the new smartphone will take place on June 12, 2024 at 2 a.m. Central European Time. Along with the announcement, HTC is also providing a first teaser image of the new device.

HTC is certainly hoping for a return to its former strength with the new smartphone. The manufacturer is currently only flying under the radar globally. The company only sells its smartphones in its home country of Taiwan and Europe. It is therefore not surprising that the manufacturer has a global market share of less than 1 percent. According to a report by our colleagues at heise online, this figure was 10 percent in 2011, according to statista.

First technical data already known

The name of the new gadget is not yet known. However, a little information about the technology has already leaked out. The smartphone is said to have a display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,436 pixels. The heart of the hardware is most likely a Snapdragon 7 CPU. In view of the fact that the U23 Pro used a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, we can now possibly expect the latest Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.

This will be supported by 12 GB of main memory. Android 14 will be used as the operating system. However, there are still many questions. Where will the new smartphone be launched? Is a release in Europe also planned? HTC will hopefully clear up these and other questions at next week’s event.
