OnlyFans soon offers reference to online store

The operators of the platform OnlyFans apparently want to expand their offer. According to the company, they want to enable their stars to offer merchandise to fans. The sale is then to take place on OnlyFans itself.

OnlyFans launches online shop

Actually, we know OnlyFans so far as an erotic-themed platform where videos of well-known and less well-known influencers can be viewed for a fee. But the website apparently wants to expand its features to keep up with the competition. While other video platforms have been offering their influencers direct merchandise sales for quite some time, this has not been possible with OnlyFans until now. This is now set to change. So fans should soon be able to find links to the webshops of their big swarms and/or idols on this platform as well. Of course, this is new territory for OnlyFans itself. That’s why the platform has enlisted active support to help with the implementation.

The company in question is Spring Inc. based in the USA. The fact that both companies have entered into a cooperation for the launch of an e-commerce platform emerges from a report of the Financial Times. With this, OnlyFans should certainly bow to the pressure exerted by some of the registered influencers. After all, the reference to an own merchandise store can meanwhile also be found among the competition. Since OnlyFans fears for its money-making users on the competitive platform market, this was therefore only a matter of time. The business itself should also be profitable for OnlyFans. Thus, one fifth of each sale is supposed to end up as commission with the website operators.

Others were faster

Whether OnlyFans would also have decided on its own to the step, one must quite doubt. After all, it is very noticeable that just a few days ago two major competitors announced a very similar feature. Users on YouTube and TikTok can now also refer to their online store. Since the battle for exclusive influencers is raging, each platform also wants to meet the wishes of these. OnlyFans is likely to benefit from the fact that it differs significantly from YouTube and TikTok in some respects.

While TikTok is primarily aimed at children and young people, YouTube is watched by the masses. But that also means that YouTube has to offer content that is suitable for young and old alike. OnlyFans, on the other hand, makes no secret of wanting to offer pornographic images and videos. Since the platform’s users already pay money for providing the content, the payment morale at linked online stores of their idols will probably be just as high. We can therefore assume that the new feature will be worthwhile for both platform and influencer.
