Philips Hue: Two new outdoor lights announced

In the field of smart lamps, Philips is considered the industry leader par excellence with its Hue lights. Now, manufacturer Signify has unveiled new outdoor lamps that offer support from Philips Hue technology.

New lamps for outdoor use

Due to its classic design, the new Philips Hue wall lamp called Inara does not at all make the impression of a modern lamp with smart home support. At first glance, at least. But the appearance is deceptive. After all, Inara has been designed as a smart light specifically for outdoor use. No matter whether it’s a terrace or a house entrance. Thanks to the warm white, dimmable Philips promises with the Inara also in the outdoor area a cozy lighting atmosphere.

Inara is also joined by the newly introduced Philips Hue Calla base lamp. Made of stainless steel, this lamp is designed to provide optimal lighting for garden paths. At the same time, it should not attract negative attention at any time due to its compact design with a height of 25 cm. Thanks to support for the Philips Hue low-voltage system, it is also said to score with an uncomplicated setup.

Classic meets modern

Both the Inara and Calla are, of course, designed to withstand pretty much any weather conditions. However, this is what you should expect from an outdoor light. But on top of that, both are supposed to be able to offer the smart control that characterizes Philips Hue technology. This means that both lights can be conveniently operated in different ways. In addition to a classic remote control, the Hue app, a motion sensor or control via voice assistant can also be used. In combination with the bridge, it should also be possible to set practical automation processes in motion. This serves especially in the absence also the security.

App gets new features donated

Furthermore, Philips wants to add some exciting features to its app. In particular, the US manufacturer wants to expand the variety of effects. For example, the two effects “candle” and “fireplace” should provide more coziness. However, not all products with Philips Hue support will enjoy the new effects. The dim lighting mood should only be possible on newer models that have both Bluetooth and Zigbee support on board.

Price and availability

The two new outdoor lights are scheduled to launch on February 8, 2022. While the Philips Hue outdoor wall light “Inara” is expected to be available at an MSRP of 99.99 euros, the manufacturer is asking for an MSRP of 139.99 euros for its new Philips Hue Calla base light.
