PVY Z20 Plus: Foldable e-bike for off-road use

PVY has presented the Z20 Plus, a new foldable e-bike that is suitable for off-road use and is intended to stand out from the competition. It is being financed through a crowdfunding campaign.

Successor to the Z20 Pro?

The now presented Z20 Plus can be understood as a successor of the recently presented Z20 Pro in some respects. It looks very similar to it, the frame design is almost identical. But if you take a closer look, you will notice some fundamental differences that make it clear that the two bikes are aimed at different target groups. For example, the new Z20 Plus is not only equipped with a suspension fork, but also with an additional damper that ensures riding comfort, especially on uneven surfaces. Furthermore, PVY uses four-inch wider tires on the Z20 Plus than on the Z20 Pro. The tires closely resemble motorcycle tires and thus once again underscore the new bike’s claim to be an off-road capable e-bike.

The new bike is also equipped with a motor with a rated output of 250 watts, which is said to be able to reach a maximum output of 1,000 watts. In addition, there are hydraulic disc brakes and a removable battery built into the frame. This provides a range of up to 120 kilometers.

The Z20 Plus reaches a maximum speed of 25 km/h in Europe and is thus suitable for legal use on EU roads. However, speeds of up to 50 km/h are technically possible. This speed can be unlocked, but no longer allows legal operation in the EU. PVY also points out that the e-bike can carry a maximum of 150 kilograms.

Price and availability

The Z20 Plus is being financed via a crowdfunding campaign on the Indiegogo platform, which is scheduled to start on May 16. At the beginning, the e-bike is to be available there at a heavily discounted price. However, exact prices are not known. Furthermore, the financing method is fraught with uncertainty: If not enough money is raised, the bike will not be produced.
