SwitchBot Lock Pro: Versatile smart door lock goes on sale

The SwitchBot Lock smart door lock impressed in our test in December 2022 and is now getting a quasi-successor, which is now available in Germany. The SwitchBot Lock Pro is set to improve in terms of connectivity and unlocking options and comes with Matter support.

SwitchBot Lock Pro launches in Germany

The SwitchBot Lock Pro has truly earned the Pro in its name. The smart door lock can be installed in just a few simple steps and can be combined with all lock types. These include Euro profile or knob cylinders, as well as locks with a door latch.

In addition, 15 different unlocking options are offered, such as a fingerprint sensor that reacts in just 0.3 seconds and offers a 98% recognition rate. Or a Keypad Touch that can store up to 100 fingerprints. It can also be unlocked using a smartphone, voice command, NFC card or PIN code. Physical keys can also be reused.

Passcodes can also be stored and used, either permanently, virtually, for a certain period of time or as one-off passcodes. Unlocking via Android or iOS smartwatch is also possible via the SwitchBot app.

In conjunction with the SwitchBot Hub Mini, the smart door lock also becomes Matter-capable and can be integrated into the smart home. Integration into other smart home systems is then possible, with the manufacturer emphasizing the integration into the Apple ecosystem with Siri and Apple Home.

Up to 270 days of battery life

The SwitchBot Lock Pro is powered by four standard AA batteries and is designed to run for a full 270 days. When the battery level is below 20 percent, the app reminds you that it will soon be time to replace the batteries.

Alternatively, the smart door lock can also be used with the manufacturer’s Dual Power Pack, which increases the battery life to 365 days and adds rechargeable batteries to the lock. A passive power supply also allows the door to be opened and closed even when the battery is low.

There are also the obligatory security notifications, for example when the door has been opened or closed or the battery is running low. Thanks to automatic locking, the door and smart lock are automatically locked as soon as it is closed.

SwitchBot Lock Pro available to order now

The SwitchBot Lock Pro can now be ordered at a price of 139.99 euros. It is available on Amazon and directly from the manufacturer, with SwitchBot currently offering a 30 euro discount in its own store. It will be available from SwitchBot from April 20, and from Amazon in mid-May 2024. Alternatively, the smart door lock is also available from the manufacturer as a bundle with Keypad Touch and/or Hub Mini.
